I LOVE the 80s!! Life was less complicated. I found one of the classic games, they rebooted Q*bert. I miss my Mario Brothers days.

I really miss the arcade games of the 80's something about them which was just exciting. These days they just don't exist in the same way. I am not surprised so many retro style games are coming out now :)

I'm just glad MAME and other emulators exist. It's nigh-impossible to play these older games otherwise, and I've been very fond of them for a long time.

As it is, I have a giant archive of basically every version of every emulated arcade game; many thousands of roms, all organized and many complete with photos of the machines, flyers, and even in-game displays that mimic what you typically saw around the screen on a machine. Even something like Gorf, where it had a light-up display that showed your current ranking, which sat next to the screen.

Went to ALOT of trouble to get that blasted archive. One of the only times I've ever used torrents (once I finally somehow found the damn thing) and if I recall, the PC at the time was left on for about an entire week in order to finally get the whole thing.

But it sure is worth it.

I was talking the games and the actual arcade for the games. For me it was always going in the arcade watching others play games I was struggling with and how they did things. Then trying my self it was a lot more social.

Saying that a true retro arcade with real machines has opened about 20 miles away so going to go there at some point :)

Oh, yeah, I know what you mean. I havent been to one in awhile myself.

Which is stupid, actually. Turns out that one of the largest arcades in the world... and THE largest in the US... is about 30 minutes from my house. Over 500 machines in that place. They even have some of Cave's shmups, which is baffling to me. WHY I havent gone there yet, I dunno. Anxiety, I guess, I'm not familiar with the area and it's more crowded than where I'm at (I'm used to "middle of freaking nowhere").

Really need to get over there soon, I do.

When I was a teenager, there was an arcade in a place called Showbiz Pizza, I loved that place, it had entertainment (country bears singing) pizza, a room for sport fans with a big screen tv. I Loved playing Pac-Man, Donkey Kong & Skee-Ball. That place is gone now, it's a Chucky Cheese now.

Games in the 80s were pretty much a major factor that helped to shape me into the kind of person I am today. After all these years, I still have goals with those games. The biggest one is to complete Super Mario Bros without any cheats or save states. I've beaten it when my parents played the whole game until World 8-4 and I beat the Game Boy Color version, but that one had saves.

All of them turned into Chuck E. Cheese ;)

I wish I could've been to more arcades in their heyday, I probably would've lost a lot of quarters though =)
