Does anyone like to relax with steam using a controller and using SteamOS or big picture mode? The way I have set it up for me is Windows 7 runs in a virtual machine that uses big picture mode as its shell. Do you prefer this kinda of living room gaming compared to the classic mouse and keyboard gaming PC has offered for years.

I think I might have been a console gamer in disguise, I truly love this setup. Though the ability to have mods makes this superior to consoles.

Unrelated, if I could just fix the audio issues Qemu has then I would be happy with big picture mode running on Windows 7 running on Arch Linux.

There are some PC games that I play on the big screen, but my eyesight is not great, and most PC games (from any era), have tiny text. Same with most console games in the HD era >_<

I've only tried Big Picture Mode one time, but it didn't work. I've been told that it only works through HDMI, not VGA. That makes absolutely no sense.

LOL agreed, I have Steam on Arch Linux running off a DVI adapter to a VGA input and big picture mode works on that. My setup on Arch Linux is a TV and I use composite for the Wii, VGA for Arch Linux and HDMI for Windows/Steam. I can do most types of gaming with this setup, the Wii does all things Nintendo, Arch Linux is kinda of a catch all and windows running big picture mode is my main gaming attraction.

Also Arch Linux is setup with retroarch so I have a very nice setup and I feel and if the price is fair, I am getting a Nintendo NX for the new Zelda but I am not sure how to hook that up since it'll probably use HDMI and windows is using that. I guess I can get a HDMI KVM switch but for some reason those are hundreds of dollars compared to older KVM switches. If I went the KVM route, I could still use my Wii with this setup.
