It's a combination of an on-rails shooter (like the old Star-fox games from so very many years ago, where you constantly fly "into" the screen and have no actual control over where you're going in the level) and a third-person on-foot shooter. The game switches between the two at various points. Extremely focused on combat at all times.
In other words.... not even remotely like the original game. I personally was disappointed by that in the same way I was disappointed by Metroid Prime being a freaking FPS.
I mean, it's okay, I guess... but... feh. I'd rather just play the original or something like it.
....also the characters never shut up. The talking just keeps going regardless of what's going on.
