A handheld that lets you play your PS5 games on the go sounds like a good idea, BUT...

Sony really screwed this up. It's the PSP and the Vita all over again.

Save your money and buy a Nintendo Switch or a Steam Deck instead.

I prefer getting a Steam Deck or the Asus ROG Ally

I'd rather get something like the RG351P.

The ROG ally is more appealing to me due to its 120hz refresh rate (screen).

I still bring my 3DS with me everywhere I go.

Nah, I've got a DMG for that. Or GBC. Or GBA(s). Or DS.

I guess it's time to break out my Game Gear.

Some of you mentioned some handheld hardware I'm not familiar with. I hope they're not those kinds of indie hardware that comes with hundreds of illegally installed ROMs on them.

Why?

Something like that is much more useful and appealing (at least to me) than a Switch or Playstation Portal or a Steam Deck.

I just want to be able to play 8 and 16 bit games on the go. Most of the games I'd actually like to play are also games I own physical copies of, not that legality means anything.

Steam Deck's, Nintendo Switch's and the like are good for people who are often on the go, and who perhaps stay away from home often.

Personally, for things like commuting on public transport, I wouldn't bother with playing video games.

I'd rather just wait until I got home.

With warpath companies like Nintendo are taking against emulation, I lost interest in it. They're going after the distributers now, but I wonder how long before they go after the consumers.

I bought a PocketGo, and it came with tons of ROMs...had to delete them all, they weren't curated at all.
Replaced it all with my own collection.

It does suck that they come with all the ROMs in the first place, but I doubt Nintendo's going to be able to take down the Chinese bootleggers.

Nah, I've gotta have a handheld. Not only does it fit in a pocket, but most of the games are geared towards being played in short bursts, on small screens.
Trying to squeeze in some BotW on a 15 minute break just isn't the same.
