Renegade would be way cooler if it had those funny little aliens making comments on everything, though.

Halo beats Renegade hands down.

Halo was only the first of a trilogy, and has become better as it progressed. Renegade was a lame attempt at bringing C&C to the first-person genre. The game was sloppy and bad looking, which is very surprising given EA have brought out quite a good few FPS's.

Although maybe we can blame Westwood for that...

Renegade has an absolutely horrible single-player. Even worse than Halo's. But as far as multiplayer goes there are things that each does right, but I'd lean towards Halo doing things on average better. I still enjoyed the hell out of Renegade's multiplayer, but Halo was a better game.
