I am a member on Nintendo VIP and there is news that the DS has been redesigned. It will be released in Japan in March so it will be about a year or so before it reaches the UK, but it will be released more recently in the USA. The redesign is called the nintendo DS Lite.

My friend code for Mario Kart online is: 382316 116986.

I might get Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and/or Super Mario 64 DS soon. Can anyone (who has one or both of them) tell me what it's like?

Wasn't it already pretty light?
*shrug*

It is light, but the redesign will be less than two thirds as thin as the normal DS, and the redesign will be 20% lighter.

I won't be buying the new one. My old DS is just fine. The only time I got a new version of an old system was when the Gameboy Advance SP was made, so I could play in the dark if I felt like it.

I agree. It's just like in June 2005 I got a 4G B&W iPod, but in 3 months a photo one had come out.

By the way what's your friend code and username on Mario Kart? Mine's →ShoX←.

Does this mean the old one will go down in price? I might just wait and buy the old one then

After it's been out that long, then it would considerably go down in price.

I need to buy a new DS anyway. The top screen suffered a minor accident (a piece of it broke, so the top screen isn't firmly attached, which would lead to some serious damage), and the LR shoulder buttons are pretty much dead (Nintendo- makes good systems, leader of innovation, but still can't make a should button worth a flip). In fact, the should buttons on both my GBAs and my DS are dead.

I need to work on mine. Animal Crossing comes in handy. Hmm, once I play it more often I'll put up my code.

Do the two devices connect through the internet, or do they connect through a server hosted by the Nintendo company?

You can use it via woreless broadband, but there are also hot spots over the country.
