i know a couple of sites that sell copied games at £4.50, one selling plain disks whereas the other sells theirs with the original artwork printed on them.

does anyone here have a flashed xbox360 or know any sites that sell the games? the site i use is running out of games as i've ordered the best they have on offer and i'm willing to spend a bit more if it means i don't have to wait another couple of months before a new game becomes available. seriously, they haven't had any new games in since well before november :?

You want to know where to get copied games from? That's one of the reasons why games are always going up. If you like the game, support the team that spent hours on it

how do i know if i like the game without playing it? i only want new backup/copied games to test the game out, if i like it i buy the game and store it until the backup breaks.

if i wanted free games i'd just download them and burn them to a dvdr.

i prefer buying backups as it's the same as renting the game out without the fear of not being able to return it on time. if i don't like the game or pass the twenty four hour mark i destroy it.

am remember reading on game central they lose more on hardware sales than games [theyre supposed to lose money with each one sold],and piracy doesnt affect the non small/independant developers that much as a lot of the users are getting pirates because they dont have money for the officials so wouldnt buy them if they weren't getting the pirate versions-most of the larger game developers try to buy licences for games based on films/well known cartoons coming out-gamers complain about them but these earn them money to keep them going and help them to develop the decent unique games everyone wants.
piracy mostly badly affects the very small developers who dont get given the big film licences which is why many have been bought or shut down in recent times.

what about those who buy secondhand games as developers get no money from that, but its still legal.

am think people should be supporting the developers where possible, but cant blame any one group of gamer for the problems with developers.

familiar_stranger,
am an ex pirate user of a chipped playstation one but not got any good ideas for sites apart from having a close look through ebay cause they do sell pirates, they just arent advertised with the obvious words.
unless know someone or know someone who knows someone that sells them as well,am got the psone chipped and the games this way as a man dad used to work with chipped and sold them, got lots of imports-had to play them in black and white as tv wouldnt do NTSC but well worth it without the stupid PAL border and slowdown.

My understanding is that most new games on the 360 have demos available on live. If you have a fast enough connection to download pirated disks, you certainly have a fast enough connection to download the demos.

i can't get on xbox live because i don't have the right cables or router for it.

did you read the buy part of my original post? i'm not interested in downloading the games.

besides, you can't download pirate games from xbox live, not as far as i know anyway.

i rent DVDs from lovefilm and they rent games too & i wasn't aware of any restrictions on return times?

anyway, why not just rent games from lovefilm? if the games crap then i'd imagine you'd return it pretty quickly anyway? if its a great game then just play it for a month then return and go buy the original. i think lovefilm game rental is £10 pm which is pretty reasonable.

speaking as an ex-pirate myself i can honestly say i get more enjoyment out of playing 4/5 great games over a year, several months each, that i did downloading every single game released since the vast majority were pretty poor IMO

That's odd... earlier you said:

If you can do that, you have what you need to connect your XBox to the net.

I did read that. However you're discussing supporting the pirate community rather than the software developers. I'm giving you an alternative - downloading the demos - rather than supporting the pirate community.

what you seem to fail to understand is the simple fact i can't go on xbox live because i don't have what's needed, my computer however can go online and download everything i like.

my younger brother has a ps3 and can't go online either because we don't have the right cables or router, will your logic apply here to?

I'm sure the Xbox will let you play downloaded demos off the PC? I've never tried as I stick with PC games. Being a demo, there shouldn't be any issues at all

I'm sure that's what 95% of people say when they get a pirated game. And I'd imagine about 5% actually mean it.

There are tons and tons of review sites. Find a game that you think looks interesting and read multiple reviews. You can almost always get an idea of what the game is like and whether or not you'll like it when you're taking opinions from multiple sources.

If nothing else, you can buy used games. No, it doesn't put money in the pocket of developers, but it doesn't put money in the pocket of pirates either, so it's definitely better than buying copies. Not supporting anyone is better than only supporting pirates.

I don't follow your logic at all. Free games, nobody gets any money...renting games, the developers (I assume) get a small profit...buying backups, some sleezy pirate is getting 100% of your money. Even if you intend to buy it if you like it, pirates are still making a decent living off of you.

if the game isn't worth playing it isn't worth paying good money to play. if i like a backup game i'll go out and buy the original from a store or order it online, the pirates get a small fraction of the money as they're pretty much offering me a self-played review of the game.

i don't like renting games/movies because of the risks, i live in a rural village and the only bus i can get here and there doesn't even go anywhere near a rental store so there's no chance of it happening. i tried an online service but after what happened with them i decided that it simply wasn't worth it, you might not see the logic but from my point of view it seems to make sense.

Honestly I don't believe you. I think there is hardly anyone in the world honest enough to buy the same product twice just because the first source wasn't a valid one.

I have never in my life purchased a CD or game after downloading the full version, unless it breaks, which happens maybe one out of every 150 products I've had.

I'm getting a 360 for my birthday soon and I've been wondering about this.

What is everyone's experiences with buying used games? Is amazon or ebay good sources for this-- are used games good quality? Do they skip at all?
