Can someone help me with a game problem?

I'm trying to run Aliens vs. Predator Gold edition but every time I begin the game, the graphic will do that "hall of mirrors" thing where the same image repeats itself over and over again but stays visible without refreshing.

I tried downloading a number of patched and the latest Direct X but none of that seems to help.

I'm hoping one of you gurus might be able to help.

I've heard the game has problems with newer versions of nVidia's drivers, not unlike Looking Glass's Dark Engine games.

There's supposed to be a fan-made patch somewhere to fix it, but I'm not sure where.
