Who likes the 2D Mario games? I love Yoshi's Island, Yohsi's Island DS, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3, Super Princess Peach and Super Mario 2. I grew up with the old games, and that's why I love them so much. The newer 2D ones are good too.

I was obsessed with Super Mario World when I was 9, and I continue loving that game, I was playing SMW yesterday, in order to test my SNES emulator for PSP.

I love the original Mario games as well, sometimes I play them on this site:

There's also a fun clip on Youtube where some guys beats Mario 3 in 11 minutes! :o

Does super paper mario count as a 2D game?

I think Super Mario World is totally easy. I think I've got all 96 goals at a few different times (I like doing that glitch in Forest of Illusion 1, though - makes it even easier  ).

New Super Mario Bros. was all right, but it was lacking in cool power-ups (not big on the Mega Mushroom :?). I also would have liked to see larger level / map designs, and maybe even 2D graphics.

These three are my favorites, though:

Super Mario Bros. 2 (By which I mean The Lost Levels) was challenging and had some neat levels.

Super Mario Bros. 3 was excellent, with all sorts of rad items (Super Leaf, Frog Suit, Tanuki Suit, Kuribo Shoe, and the gnarly Hammer Bro. Suit ).

Yoshi's Island was a nice game. I like the regular Mario gameplay better, but this was good and challenging (but there was at least one level that was hell to beat - I think it was the fifth world fort). I did eventually beat the game when I was ten. Unfortunately, the cartridge got messed up and I lost my files a few years ago.

I don't think so because you can move in 3 dimensions. :?

i can finish Super Mario World in about a hour(cheating) just play the same as normal up to doughnut plains 1 then unlock star world(via the hidden Ghost House), do all the hidden exit's on the star world levels untill ya get to the last star on the star world map, it will take ya right next to Bowser's Castle lol then finish Bowser's Castle and ya finished the game with next to no sweat lol

I hate the new 3d games (haven't played galaxy though and I think I will like it)

I love all of the original 3, in this order: 3, 1, 2

I also really like super mario world. I love my super mario all stars cart for SNES.

I liked Galaxy for bringing back some old-style power-ups (although I wish the Fire Flower wasn't timed...) I hope a future game will bring back the power-ups from Mario 3. :D

The inclusion of airships was cool, and the classic Koopas whose shells you could throw.

New Super Mario Bros. was too easy. Galaxy was awesome. Super Mario World was great. And I haven't actually played much 2D Mario games. I never completed Super Mario Land.
