I used to love making explosives. After so long though, people started getting the impression that I might be a terrorist, so I had to stop. I still do little things here in there, but there is nothing like seeing 12 hydrogen balloons just barely hold up a cake with twelve candles. Did I leave a bad impression again? :(

I did that too until some idiot started driving around town throwing bombs of a similar design out of a car window so I had to stop. I had a pretty cool little design too. It was really loud for it's size and it directed the bulk of the blast straight up and down so it didn't break windows.

Weapons are evil?

If a couple of drug crazed nut jobs break in through your door with the intention of robbing/raping/killing you then I can only wish that you had a pistol or shotgun to defend your house and your family.

If you don't then perhaps you should be removed from the gene pool because you are too stupid to live.

Or remove the drug crazed nut jobs from the gene pool instead. You know, if you want to deal with the actual problem.

I'd prefer to use a rifle at long range, but for close quarters I think bladed weapons are a better solution since they need no reloading.

Yes, however there is one problem, and is the judgment of people (people are generally idiots).

I used to play first person shooter games on a network years ago, I used to be ok with but I lost it by now.

I have a similar interest in weapon technology, particularly in nuclear, chemical, biological and autonomous weapons. Does that make me look evil :?

Machine guns are a waste of otherwise more effectively used ammunition.

Oh gee. So I shoot a few dollars worth of bullets.

That is a small price to save my life and the lives of my family.

I still rather go by the "one shot, one kill" approach, if possible. And also, in close quarters combat with your family around, multiple shots increase the probability of ricochet with undesired vectors. Hence another reason for my preference of blade usage in such a situation. However, if I were to use a firearm, I'd prefer a .22 since the recoil is minimal enough to allow for proper aiming.

I've used a Colt 1911 .45 at the shooting range (my bachelor's party was going to a shooting range, actually) and it is exactly like what one WWII vet I talked with said, "It can kill anything, but it is only accurate to about ten feet in front of you"... but even back when I was 15 I was able to hit a bullseye at 50 yards with a .22 pistol, so I like them. I also like the .177 Crossman 750, but if you were to kill someone with those you'd have to aim for the sides of the neck. Currently, my favorite rifle is a Remington 700 .223 caliber with which I was able to hit a five inch diameter grouping about 3" to the lower right of bullseye at an hundred yards.

But, what do you mean about "manly man"?

He's just joking that BS about smaller calibers being for sissies.

In the house, you are fighting 0-10 feet. Something like a Saiga-410 or an AR-15 with frangible ammo is your best bet.

I'm not that big on knives except in places where they are all you can have.

No, but if I do I'll recommend phsyciatry, given that I will likely be completly unarmed when I discuss it.
