Are often the most frightening hypocrites? You can call them on it, and they just sheepishly explain it away. Or they flat out lie... that's always convenient.

I've come to the conclusion that they are either incredibly stupid or in some state or level of denial.

I have no tolerance for liars. But if you call someone on ANYTHING why shouldn't they explain it? Is it that difficult to think maybe you are the one incorrect or misunderstanding?

I have no trouble at all listening to reason, nor examining my own beliefs. But when I do closely examine what someone else has to say, I usually (not always) find that it is insufficient to cause me to change my views. If there is no good reason to change what I believe, why should I?

That's kinda the thing. There probably never will be. Especially when the people who condone and proselytize their tenets don't even believe in them enough to follow them.
