A sperm cell is as much a lifeform as a week old fetish is. For those who are against abortion.

A week old FETISH?

I assume you mean "fetus".

I know a "fetish" can take on 'a life of its own" figuritively speaking, but..

Old fetishes probably die faster than the sperm. Depending who has the fetish of course.

Nonetheless, I didn't realise he meant foetus until you mentioned it. Aspie literalism I guess.

Actually, it *is* harmful. Sometimes it is even permanently damaging or fatal. The only reason women put up with it is because they *want* the child that will have developed at the end. If they don't want the child, they shouldn't be forced to put up with the zef.

And it absolutely is *not* independent. If it were, we could just remove it and let it develop on its own.

I already pointed this out/made a joke about it.

No.
A sperm cell is just a sperm cell; an egg cell is just an egg cell.
They aren't the beginning of a human until they join together.

I'm aware that there can be complications in birth, but that doesn't mean all births will have complications. besides, you're acting like the woman has been infected with some insidious parasite that she had nothing to do with contracting. that generally isn't the case. If you're that scared of getting pregnant, why even have sex?

I meant "independent: in the since that it is an individual unique from it's mother, not that it could survive on it's own. I thought this was understood.

If you're against abortion, you might as well be against people declining movie scripts.

Because a movie script is to a movie as a zygote is to a human being.

But A) you're not killing a living thing and B) you're not preventing any of the ideas in said script from ever having any sort of impact on the world. It is a fallacious comparison on multiple levels.

Honey, it's not just births that have complications. Even perfectly normal, healthy pregnancies have dramatic health effects on the mother; just to take the most prevalent example, most women gain weight during pregnancy that they are unlikely to lose later, putting them at higher risk of heart disease, diabettes, stroke, high blood pressure, and a plethora of other issues for the rest of their lives. That's in a normal pregnancy. Then, assuming a normal birth, there is hours of excruciating pain. There is also a financial cost; responsible prenatal care and childbirth can cost tens of thousands of dollars, again in a normal situation. There is water bloating, back pain, nausea, etc. There are literally dozens of lab tests, done with multiple lab draws (meaning being stuck with a needle over and over), being prodded in intimate parts by strange (often male) doctors. Even a normal pregnancy is NOT fun, and, as I said earlier, the only reason a woman should have to put up with it is because she wants the child that will develop by the end.

That's a little bit like asking, 'if you're afraid of gaining weight, why ever eat?'

Because husbands and wives like to show physical affection for each other even if they don't want kids.
Because sex is one of the strongest biological drives we experience, whether we want kids or not.
Because sex is fun, whether we want kids or not.

Then you meant 'unique,' not 'independent.'
A cancer cell is also unique, living, human, and capable of growth. Some, for that matter, are even able to be independent of a human, given a little moisture and nutrition once in a while.

Studies show that aborted fetuses don't have any impact on the world.

I disagree. I read something which said that contraception and abortion made decrease crime rate. Why ? Because undesired-unloved children are more eager to commit crimes later, because they weren't enough took care when they were young ; Contraception and abortion prevent a significative part of the future criminals to exist.

They shouldn't be banned, because people should be trusted to use their own discretion when it comes to these things.

speramatozoons are as much pre-humans as fetuses are. However like fetuses, they are not sentient beings.
