The Christians weren't very magnanimous about P*** Christ. Serrano gets loads of abuse and hate mail and his work gets vandalised.
I meant they were different acts in this sense:
P*** Christ was done to provoke people and make the artist famous (not really to express hatred). It's not an inherently anti-Christian artwork, even if it is a 'shocking' one.
Burning the Qu'ran was done to provoke Muslims and it was done to express something close to hatred. Even so, I reckon the hatred is for the book and the ideas in it, rather than for Muslims as people. Therefore, I reckon you should have the right to do it in a free country.
