Despite Christie saying 20 times that he does not want to run for president, the media constantly for the past few weeks has been speculating on it, to the point where people close to him have said he was considering it.

While he is being a good governor to us in NJ, here are reasons why I think he shouldn't run.

1. He said he wasn't ready to be president. If he wins the nomination, the Obama campaign would replay that sound bit over and over.
2. Organizing and funding a campaign takes time. You can't build a stable foundation the very last minute.
3. On social issues, he is more moderate, so he will take a beating for supporting some gun control laws for example.
4. Like Rick Perry, he may surge in the polls for the first month, but that doesn't mean much in the long term.
5. He should finish his term as NJ governor, because right now, he doesn't have enough experience to campaign on.
6. He hasn't ever addressed national security and defense, an important aspect of the presidency.

Taft set the bar pretty high on that one, didn't he?

Back during Taft's time a man who was portly was considered to be successful.

Damn, beat me to it. Not only will he probably have a heart attack, but he could fall on someone!

This is all politics I don't think he has any intention of running.

However he has been nudged in that direction by very major figures like Nancy Reagan. He can't just say no, but rather a neutrally polite "I'll think about it." and so this whole insanity continues.

Hey he's a republican!
As long as the left is giving themselves bleeding ulcers over next year’s republican presidential hopefuls let then have at it!

it's not just the left FOX News is going for this crap constantly. It's ridiculous.

It seems like the pushed Perry into this and now they'd be fine with pushing him out in favor of another made up Front Runner. Oh no we can't let any of these 2nd Tier candidates move up.

It almost seems like they are anticipating either Romney or Perry stepping down and they want Christie going in there to take their place.

You both are just afraid that you both might be the last two remaining on the boat with his voracious appetite. Twinkies=0, bitter conservative snacks=2, and The Captain's decision carries the most weight.

Somebody gets it. Perry was completely a media creation and now that he's proven himself unelectable, the powers that be are scrambling to prop up some one else. The flavor of the month is Herman Cain but they'll throw him to the curb the second they can get their fat god Chris Christie in the race. Anything to stop one true conservative in this race from becoming the alternative to Mitt Romney.

I don't know that much about Christie on a lot of issues, he hasn't been office too long. Just judging by the fact Karl Rove, Henry Kissinger, Dick Chaney, Nancy Reagan, Bill Kristol, etc., are pushing him to get in the race, it's safe to assume he is the worst kind of neocon.

He is hardly a neocon. He is more like a wardheeler and a thug. Christy is too much of a bare-knuckle brawler to be any kind of an ideologue.

And as the anti-union governors of Wisconsin and Florida are facing a political backlash, I think the Democrats could be expected to equate Christie with them for his own union bashing if he ends up as the Republican nominee.

New Jersey was run into the ground, still needs his firm hand in the Garden State. His weight is an issue for those that want to make one, but I see that one coming back 180 on weight watchers.

Nancy Reagan? A "very major figure?" I thought that this tarte had died a few decades ago. Isn't she about 120 years old now, if alive?

Did the voodoo astrologers tell her that she should marry Mr. Christie?

I think its wrong to discriminate a person for public office, Republican, Democrat, Christie, ANYONE because of their weight.

I honestly expected better from WP.
