the decrease in population might be worth it as well.
Oh, don't get me into the topic of the dynamics of population growth in developed countries. The fact of the matter is that, when there is not an immediate obstacle to survival, people tend to hedge their bets with establishing their offspring as influential figures in their society. Although it seems counter-intuitive to have less children, whether or not they would have greater influence, the hidden advantage is that having a strong position in society gives one access to stronger genes. If you are from a powerful family, your mating prospects will have relatively few genetic flaws, and your offspring will therefore have higher chances of survival. If you can think on a geologic scale, it makes sense even today...unless, of course, you think we're immune to having another serious dark age. When it happens, I'm moving myself and my kin into a floating city or something because it will be a cold day in Hell before any of my blood stayed around for that kind of crap. When you idiots break out into civil war again, my people are going to be making tracks.
Therefore, our population will tend to paradoxically
contract under the influence of reduced survival stress, which is what we're seeing in developed countries around the world, especially those that have a strong capitalist economy backed by an efficient welfare state. It's really not all that complicated WHY this doesn't result in breeding a society full of idiots and losers. Besides, that's been the
status quo since we climbed out of the trees in case you haven't been paying attention. The fact of the matter is that a better established lineage is going to have better staying power if you think in terms of thousands of years, with things like plagues, natural disasters (which would wipe out less ideally located land and the people on it), climatic shifts, you name it, we've done it. Your bloodline wouldn't survive a serious holocaust if it had weak genes and little or no economic muscle.
Excuse me, that was a bit of a side-topic. I am actually sorry for these ladies that they're getting more spotlight than they might have bargained for, but I hope they realize what a great service they have done for the LGBT community. They put a very calm, well-groomed face on the LGBT community, and I think that images like this will go a long way in persuading some well-meaning conservative thinkers that this gay thing isn't all just moral chaos. I hope we will get to see more images like this.
