So you would like a Federal agent in the name of protecting you to kick your door down in the night and stomp you with their " jack boots".they did a fine job at Waco.

I think these Doctors that claim that pot induced schizophrenia is a fate worse than death need to understand that there is a difference between getting a buzz , getting stoned and getting wasted just like there is with alcohol.

For me I would not want to get stoned because it triggers my LSD flashbacks however I have gotten away with a buzz high without hearing angels singing in my head.

They said the federal government could sue to block parts of the measures

I don't think that the federal government can force a state to enact state laws against marijuana. Marijuana possession might still be a federal crime, without being a state crime.

Not even close to what I said and did not imply. For the record Waco got what was coming and what should be coming to Mormon Herdslave Wife compounds.

Having thought about it... What kind of strange, Bizarro-World scenarios live inside your mind? What scene did you envision here? Two people lying in bed and 4 agents crashing through the Window with guns drawn screaming "Your state government cannot tell you that you can't marry another consenting adult or posssess and burn some plant matter less destructive than alcohol!"

Sorry if I misunderstood,Koresh was an a**,but those children and brainwashed women were victims. The sheriff of that county said Koresh regularly came to town and he could have arrested him anytime,no one asked him too.

They were victims but they were also adults who outnumbered Koresh and willingly kept their children in a nuthouse. Where's their part of the responsibility?

They suffer from some kind of terminal stupidity, like the adults at Jonestown who let their children drink that Kool-aid.Stockholm Syndrome, denial, who knows what they were thinking. It just should have been handled differently, but hindsight isn't worth a da**.I bet their are lots of regrets among the survivors.Maybe it should be called"Lemming Syndrome".

If we collapse we are more likely to go the route of Somalia.

And socialism is the last thing a sane person would wish for. All socialism can do is manage chronic shortages. It is a great system for permanent rationing.

It seems to me that historically "state's rights" have been a strong ally to conservative obstructionists looking to slow or stop the demand to treat groups of human beings like human beings. So screw state's rights.

Well then why is it Colorado passed amendment 64 trying to legalize marijuana...to get rid of people being treated as criminals for smoking marijuana. It was passed on the best interest of all the citizens of the state. But the feds want to trample it down and continue prosecuting people for something that shouldn't even be a crime. Its the feds who want to trample various groups of human beings, not the states......well maybe some states behave that way but then they are just taking after the federal government.

I did say historically. I'm aware that there are few absolutes and that sometimes things change.

This.

Indeed thats what makes this case interesting.

Historically in the USA "states rights" has been an excuse for the local and state governments to trample individual rights (ie enforce slavery and segregation). Not to protect individual rights.

In short- "states rights" just means ONLY the states can be tyrants!

This is the rare case that "state rights" actually protects individual rights FROM federally "tryanny" ( or some think of it as tyranny).

There maybe a legal end run around the feds though.

The whole reason the federal government was able to intervene in the southern civil rights movement was because of a wide ranging interpretation of one line in the US Constitution.

That line was "congress has the right to make laws regulating commerce between the states".

If this Colorado law stipulates that you have to grow your own- and still forbids pot as a retail commodity-then- maybe it could be claimed that this reform 'does not effect interstate commerce'. And thus the Feds would have no juristication the way they did in the civil rights movement.

Its a slender hope, but worth a try.

I beleive they did it to Chong for selling bongs in Pennslyvsnia. For someone who has choose the most peaceful of all beings as an avatar(the buzzard or vulture)you sure are a grumpy one.
Also,Ruby Ridge.

I have a relation that works compassionate care(weed)in northern Cali, yes the Feds do act like asses harassing the people who have voted to legalize it for medical use.
Have friends that had helicopters of Feds land at their place they tore their place apart.
What kind of naive world do YOU live in where you think things like this don't happen?

Really? No rationing up here in Canada. We're doing fine. Better off economically than you are, in fact.

I belive that they do happen. My post questions calling the Feds Jack Booted thugs for not allowing state governments to crap on the weak and/or uninfluential.

And Vultures are not necessarily peaceful. North Amerivan Vultures have similarities to cranes but African vultures evolved from predators.
