Uhm, maybe I am touchy, but that appears to be a representation of Buddha, which I have no problem with, but the word "deity" is a bit dicey. Buddha was a man, not a God, and he has never presented himself to be other than a human being. Even though I do not believe in the Christian God, I would never disrespect Jesus by referring to him as a "deity". I try not to be touchy when people ridicule Buddha, because I know people are generally uninformed, but I will gently protest religious disrespect, intentional or not. And yes, I realize people perceive me to be disrespectful of Christianity but it is not my intent. I am surrounded by Christians in my real world, outnumbered 50:1 easily, but I make the best effort not to offend them. Probably I am taking this post literally to a point of excess. It won't be the first time.

South Asian, but obviously not Buddha.

Its a Hindu Diety. Probably Krishna.
So not only are they both dieties they are also almost-namesakes.

Go back a few pages, and you will see the "animie Jesus" someone posted showing Jesus hanging with his buddy Guatama (both as child-like animie characters).

I admit to knowing nothing of Krishna, but I am well familiar with the way people in the west mock, ridicule and exploit Buddhism. I jumped to conclusions because on this topic I know my touchiness. I think it stems from the fact that I am alone in the Midwest, in a small corner of the universe, surrounded by people who know or understand nothing of what is meaningful to my life, and don't care. I truly do feel like I am alone on a distant planet. No temples, no teachers, only books and videos. I have been to zen retreats, Wat temples and spoken with zen monks. But with no transportation now, and isolated in this Christian wilderness of apathy and ignorance, I grasp at any shred of relevance to the Dharma. I don't know how to explain this feeling. Even these words make no sense to anyone but myself. I'm sorry for jumping.

My plan is to right a Gospel where Jesus is an outsider from the provinces rather than Jerusalem proper and he has come to the Temple in the "big city" with his country views and values so he questions all the corruption going on around him. He has the radical quality of someone from the country instead of the city.
He is just from a different group so he never really finds his place in Jerusalem. He leaves the Temple where he is trained and begins his ministry. He gains momentum and the government in Jerusalem feel threatened so they alarm the Romans that he could destabilize the city and there ya go. It's the typical story of a rebel who gets caught before the revolution can begin then the Romans do away with him.
For various reasons the true account has been sanitized and glorified to keep the legend going. Basically it is the story of a passionate, defiant rebel who dare try to get the Jews to kick the Romans out of the city.
