Furthermore, the fact that Hillary did better than Obama among black voters in South Carolina (measured not only by percentage of votes but by turnout as well) really sets her up well for the general election.
Although turnout in primaries cannot be considered representative of turnout in the general election, one ought to recall that George W. Bush would likely never have been president if black turnout had been as high as white turnout in 2000.
It really is weird how overwhelming Hillary's support is with black voters especially after the campaign she waged in 2008 but she has almost total control of the black establishment which is not held in as high of disregard(think civil rights icons like John Lewis) as their white counterparts plus in the south more of the white populists I think would be more likely to vote for Trump or the Republican in general. It's hard for me not to see a racial component to it, Bernie is a very old looking Jewish man and has been pretty awkward in his attempts to woo black voters which he is almost at the point of begging. It's kind of sad since while Hillary was a Goldwater Youth, Bernie was getting arrested on the streets of Chicago in a place that even MLK didn't crack. Now nevermind Goldwater being a much more honorable man than LBJ or later Nixon(Hillary wouldn't of known that) but it is an interesting contrast.
For all intents and purposes, it's over for Bernie after Super Tuesday and to be honest the entire process has been rigged from the beginning so he never really had a chance even as Hillary's support collapsed before Iowa/New Hampshire(which I find really weird since Bernie wasn't hammering her but Trump was) Bernie's only chance was to scorch the earth, he had to be totally opposed to Hillary on ideological grounds(pretty hard to do since she'll just copy whatever she thinks is popular) but also ethical grounds which is where his greatest strength lies with her greatest weakness. Bernie after that point won't be viable for the nomination but he might stay in to collect delegates so he can leverage the platform and get a prime time speaking spot. Bern is a team player and will ultimately try to keep everyone in Hillary's camp.
That's a lot of populist anger that has to go somewhere
