Like I said, it's gotten pretty mainstream and interchangeable.
I just googled "got cucked by" and the first hit was by a dragon in a video game and the third was cucked by a girl! So it's a lot like saying f****d and calling someone a f****r, it's usually got nothing to with anything sexual, even though the word originated from that.

Yeah, would be interesting to map it’s spread into contemporary slang though.
A friend in my teens (so late 1990s) had a stache of imported US porn mags he’d shoplifted from a newsagents in the local city, one of them had cuckold fetish stories in it: could media of that type have been the source point?
