Hi yall,
Almost half of Americans or 44 percent of Americans dont make what the min wage would of been if it would of stayed true to FDR's purpose. FDR said that the min wage was meant to be a living wage. 44 percent of Americans dont make a living wage and I am one of them. I just think that anyone who works 40 hours a week should be able to live the American Dream. FDR famously said that every business who cant afford a living wage for all its workers should go out of business....I am paraphrasing.

The min wage was last raised in 2009 to 7.25 per hour. Wages have been stagnant since the 70's. Lots of Union Busting started happening in the 80's and unions and workers never recovered sadly. Pretty much no young person can afford to buy a home without the help of parents or family. I remember one talking point is the min wage was never meant to support families...it was meant to be pocket money for teens and college students but obviously that talking point is false.

I think I would have died if I tried to do that.

Stagnant wages don't work for most Americans, but the ones they benefit have far too much influence.

The minimum wage downunder is currently $24.10 AUD
That's about $15.45 US... Nearly double that of the States
