Hi yall,
I know that most people on this site are liberal or liberal-leaning politically ....I know most of us cant afford San Francisco or LA or New York City for those who are liberal......Many of us have financial challenges and cant work. The problem is that blue states tend to be more expensive than red states. The other good thing about these purple to blue states is that are more likely to have more welfare for us than somewhere like Oklahoma or Arkansas or Texas or Mississippi.

Some states that are purple to blue states that have a more reasonable cost of loving are Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Maine, Parts of Colorado/ Some Parts of rural California although it may have to be in a red city but you would still be in deep blue California, Upstate New York, Southern Illinois in college towns, Iowa and New Mexico....which of these places most appeal to yall??? there are quite a few options.....I know many of yall may want to leave the country but we typically cant legally immigrate to other countries.

Also Georgia is a purple or swing state that could be an option. Also maybe Iowa and Ohio could work too.

Are you sure about Vermont? My impression is that Vermont tends to be a rather expensive place to live.

By the way, New Mexico is often considered to be the state with the highest crime rate in the union. Only Washington DC is higher.

I heard housing is high in Vermont but other cost of living are more reasonable there. ya i just saw that online about New Mexico. I have always been okay with the thought of living in a high-crime city because I dont go to bars or nightclubs or get drunk late into the evening and I am just a homebody and a semi-hermit. I lived in a city that was the nation's murder capital at one point. I know other Aspies are wanting to avoid high-crime cities but I am fine with living in a high crime city if I can live in a decent part of town. New Mexico also offers generous welfare.

NY is the highest taxed state in The USA, you may fare ok around The Buffalo area though. East and west coast tend to be pricey on housing and taxes, VT is expensive.

States like TN,TX,OK, and AR in terms of a social safety net one is on their own. They don't put priority on that and those are all right to work for less states.

I live in Ohio, which is a red state but not as red as Texas or the deep south. I am high functioning and pass for NT, although it's getting tougher and tougher, so I don't use nor qualify for any government benefits. I'm not against others having them but for myself if I am not working or doing something, I feel useless.

Michigan is a fairly balanced state as is Minnesota. Illinois is a blue state with average cost of living.

Most Aspies most likely would not be paying the highest tax rates in New York because we tend to be low income.
