I hate Wal-mart, but, like all the rest of the folks in the united states, Im addicted to the low prices. I despise their business practices and how the company treats its employees. But I dont make much money so the prices are luring, and when Im on night shift, its the only game intown open when Im up at 2am.
Anyone else have any input on the veritable evils that the Wal-mart culture holds?
PS I am a captlitist, but business punishing other businesses through shady tactics and threatining to sanction their products isnt what free enterprise is supposed to be.
I first would likw to apologise.
this subject i is too good to let pass. Last night after work, i decided to build a home network and messed everything up. Thank god for system restore..

This is shortsided reasoning.
Sophist eluded to the fact that they offer no company benefits. With Wal-Mart it goes even further. It has much publicized fact that they teach and encourage their employees how to receive these benefits from the State. While you may be saving 3cents for every dollar you spend, you easily make up that amount in taxes spent.
You are the one taking care of Wal-Marts employees.
Have you ever heard the saying, "You get what you pay for!"?
The only quality product you can buy at Wal-Mart is CRAP; made in China by slave labor.
i have no problem with import/export, since it is my livelihood.
But i also wonder at what cost is the world's largest retailer selling their
slave produced crap at such a low price.
-loss of American manufacturing jobs
-increase of service sector jobs
-murder of the friendly 'ma and pop' retailer (the American Dream)
-forced overtime of employees (off the clock)
-bureaucratic like demands on manufacturers
***this forces the manufacturer to look for alternate ways of producing for cheaper; secondary are cheaper produced product, environment concerns, lay-offs, and a muting of the voice of labor.
The reason that Wal-Mart is the only game in town is because it stands alone. They have no competition and this is by design. They have forced out the competition, demanded from the manufacturer, set the example for labor, and dictated to the consumer, where they MUST spend their money.
Wal-mart is the only variable, which has FREEDOM, in any situation that they insinuate their interest; who can compete.
My personal opinion is that by rejecting Wal-Mart i am making a moral decission. Wal-Mart is more interested in their own selfish greed than it is for any concern of any other interrest.
LSE,
the following is a question, try to answer it the best you can.
I warn it is a trick question and it is leading.
"What do they sell at Wal-Mart?"
many of my points were left vague on purpose. there are so many points of evil in this empire that i could write for days. I am hoping to find someone to argue 'pro' Wal-Mart.
My bottom line, and to repeat.
The issue of low prices and rejecting them is a morally correct choice.
