Demonizing the mentally ill over the actions of one man makes about as much sense as demonizing inanimate objects. Lapierre did turn it around on the news media which I think is something that is missing from the hysteria but him blaming video games and and movies was beyond lame. Everybody is pointing fingers, it is really sad.

What is "mentally ill"? That man wants to create a population of scape goats.

Did you know that in the Soviet Union (now dead and gone, thank goodness) I would have been classified as both insane and dangerous. Why? Because I distrust and dislike the government.

You would just have had to have been careful not to tell anyone.

I remember a famous Soviet scientist who was treated as insane.

One man's moron is another man's genius.

Who appointed you the judge of human intelligence?

It was a joke.

I'm insulting the dweeb who wants a list of "mentally ill" people. As it stands, I doubt he's a particularly good judge of who is "mentally ill."

Otherwise, the only thing I'm less qualified to judge than human intelligence is fashion.

Why? Because they defend the Second Amendment which is the Law of the Land?

And if only cops and soldiers had guns the rest of us would soon be slaves if we are not already.

Name #1 on that list - Wayne LaPierre.

You know, there is a wide middle ground between "confiscate all the guns" and "arm everybody with whatever they feel like." Those of us who fancy ourselves adults would like to have a conversation somewhere in that middle ground, but we keep being outshouted by folks like LaPierre and Flea.

Wayne's always been a bit ,eh, hysterical for my taste, though I'm starting to think that his past dire warnings might have been a bit more prescient than I gave him credit for at the time. I'll still support the NRA as an organization, but I am disappointed by this reaction from them.

The NRA is tone-deaf and out-of-touch, after suggesting armed guards be placed in every single school nationwide.

if we can send people to the moon, we surely can fix our mass murder problem. it is a matter of political will.

Sending a human to the moon is simple compared to understanding the brain and nervous system. There are many orders of magnitude difference in the two problems.

Newton's greatest achievement was showing the mathematical structure of physical laws and in so doing exposed their essential simplicity. Neurophysiological processes are of a much higher order of complexity and we are only beginning to scratch the surface of these processes. We have no mathematics theory of the brain, mind or soul and we are not even close to getting one.
