I've decided to convert to Judaism. Partly, because Judaism is the only religion with an instance of mass revelation, partly because Judaism satisfies my desire for truth more, and partly because I find some things in Islam to be barbaric (wife hitting, chopping off hands of thieves, etc.) and because I do not believe that the Torah is a corrupted text, and have not for quite some time.... This means I can't date any of the girls in the Istanbul center, since Muslim women are prohibited from courting non-Muslim men, and that I'll have to deal with shunning by Muslims... but I've made my decision.... I've decided to keep kosher, I've started reciting grace after meals (full version, which is REALLY long), weekday amidah, and the shema, and keeping the sabbath, which means I can't be on the computer on saturdays..... I also have decided to start listening to music again...

The Jews are a tribe posing as a religion. Their 'religion', such as it is, is really a justification for their tribal supremacism and at the same time a mask for it. I don't see why anyone would want to convert to that.

my mother doesn't really care, but says it's a sin.... my dad says it's my choice, but says we won't have much in common anymore if I convert to another religion... I haven't told him yet.

except i once emailed my dad saying i want to convert to some other religion, but he called me saying it was my choice... he doesn't know I chose Judaism, and he thinks I reverted to Islam.

Humans have a lot in common with each other, but that is not as significant our differences are.

Rather than looking for answers in one ancient book or another, why not convert to thinking for yourself?

So I, as an individual, have the answers to all of life's ethical questions? I don't believe so... While religion won't solve everything, it provides a framework and identity...

I'm an atheist too and I hope the people think for themselves, however if this if what he really want to do I wouldn't stop him. People have to find things out for themselves. In fairness to MC, he has at least tried to find a better fit.

However when asked I'm not going to hold back as to what I think about various aspect of these faith.

I think Russian Orthodox might suit you. It's a challenge for young men with strict rules on many aspects of life and also provides the strong "extended family" aspect I am sure you found enticing in Islam. You'll also have less troublesome "cultural difficulties" in America in years to come (assuming America doesn't succumb to its own problems). It should be obvious why Muslims are going to have a hard time, but Jews too have more bad years incoming I fear.

The current European crisis that has been in the works for years. The stage is set either for Islamic takeover in decades to come or a revival of Christo-centric conservative nationalism. America is watching and will continue to watch (if it survives its own leftists' misgovernment) as Europe is destroyed, or taken to the brink by Euro-marxist anti-Christian multicultural ideologies and learn a hard lesson. With either outcome, people will turn against these ideologies and ask why it happened and who is responsible. The conspiracy nutters will happily poke their heads round the corner and explain the Jews did it. I'm not sold on their theories to be honest, it's extremely difficult to determine someone's true motives, but the ridiculous over-representation of Jewish intellectuals in the foundation and continued preaching of these ideologies is an easily researched fact. That and the doublethink expressed by many: "Nationalism for Israel, diversity and multiculturalism for the gentiles" suggests at least some were aware of what could happen.

Whether there is any truth to it all, it could be enough for a bunch of pissed off gentiles to turn on the old "fifth column" once more.
