I don't intend to respond to an article from a known fake news site which hosts right-wing conspiracy theories including (surprise, surprise) lots of virulent Anti-Semitism.

The quote is from January. It is from Assange, doesn't matter what site posts it.

Do you mean sites critical of the apartheid and racist state of Israel?

But American Right-wing was always way more pro-Israel than Left-wing (there are religious reasons, influential Protestant churches in the US regard Israel highly for...religious reasons), I always had the impression that the US's Left-wing were always more sympathetic for Palestinian cause.

And Assange's related conspiracy theories seem to have more fellowships among the Left people.

Your post has nothing to do with this thread. They are not conspiracy theories. Have you seen the undercover Al Jazeera documentary regarding the the Israeli lobby in the UK? No you haven't. There's a US one but the lobby has stopped it from coming out.

Isn’t it obvious that Julian Assange is a paid Russian agent tho?
Same for Edward Snowden.

Why these guys always fly to Russia? And why he never leaks negative scandals about Russia?

No. It isn't.
The Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity disagree for one, and I'd take their opinion over the DNC's or "The Donalds" any day of the week.

It's clear as crystal.

But why all his scandal stories are only about US and their allies; why never about Russia and Iran for example? If we to believe wilileaks blindly then the US is all-evil while Russia is all-good; Putin is a saint who never does something bad according to them.

And how do you explain this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qG4hxvVV76s

I can't believe anyone seriously believes the DNC had fabricated the Russian hack.

Um, they have published information on Russia.

The number of countries they have published on is quite extensive.

The men who comprise VIPS are people who have worked in the intelligence industry for decades and have reached fairly senior positions.
They are serious and experienced men, with a history of being on the money. So what they say is worth the effort of reading. Even if you don't agree with it.

I'm curious why you find the idea that politicians might lie to save their own hides, so astonishing?

Oh come on, they did that only because all non-idiot people are talking about it; it is becoming too obvious.
The author himself said “It’s the first time the organization has leaked material directly pertaining to the Russian state.”
It’s the first time! After... more than 10 years!

Come on.... we are not that stupid.

You can claim that, but your original claim was that they had never leaked any material on Russia at all.
For that Matter, they have leaked only minor amounts of material on China, India and Brazil as well.
Obviously they are a joint, China, India, Brazil, Russia, operation if we are to go by your reasoning.

However what is obvious to me, is that these kinds of stories come out, every time they publish something that upsets someone.

I can remember back in the Bush II days of 2007/8, when they published stuff that made headlines.
He was a Jewish operative. (When he leaked the British fascist parties membership list)
He was a High Tech Terrorist!! (When he leaked on Bush the Seconds stupid war).
Then with the Sarah Palin emails, Fox news said he was an agent of Obama and the DNC.

This happens every single time, news stories in the media, calling them agents of whatever bogeyman is in the news that week.

OK I'll just focus on Assange here, he and Snowden don't necessarily have all that much in common.

My guess would be that Assange does not necessarily admire Russia, but that Russia was simply never "on his radar". There is a widespread tendency in the West to resent the US in the sense that the US gets a "free pass" for all sorts of international atrocities (only one of which is support of Israel) because of its role as the "defender of the Free World". People who feel this particularly strongly (from what I've seen this is more typical of people on the left of the political spectrum, and in many countries esp. in Europe one's political orientation tends to align with that of one's family i.e. you're a Socialist if your parents are Socialists) become easily angered at the US for all sorts of reasons. A good example is people who like to express admiration for the Cuban government, simply because Cuba had the "bravery" to stand up to the US at a time when the US was mercilessly bullying other countries in the Western Hemisphere. These admirers of the Cuban revolution will refuse to entertain any questions about political freedom (or lack thereof) in modern Cuba, inevitably turning the topic around to target some injustice on the part of the US for which the US has not been held accountable and should be.

I believe this tendency is strongest among those old enough to remember the Cold War. At 47, Assange is probably old enough to remember the Cold War. I have the sense that, at least in Europe, this tendency is not nearly so strong for people under, let's say, 40 years old (just a sense, I can't prove it). Now during the Cold War, the understanding was that the Soviet Union was brutish and militarily aggressive but because (presumably) everyone already understood this, the main intellectual objective should be to uncover and publicize the misdeeds of the US to show that the US wasn't much better and not worthy of whatever admiration it might otherwise get. Needless to say, these people were helping the Soviet cause and the Soviets knew it. This is the origin of the term "useful idiot".

So I don't think the Russians are necessarily behind Assange's activities, however I can see how they might appreciate the bad press they have inspired against the US, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they had taken actions to support him (whether or not they have communicated with him directly)
