Along with mass deportations and other whack job authoritarian crazy, should Canada close it’s Southern Border to stop the flow of political instability refugees from streaming into our country seeking food, water, shelter, work & safe haven? :chin:

I don't think Canada should close their borders. Keep in mind that some of the most left-leaning states border Canada (Washington, Minnesota, New York and Vermont).

But since I live in Texas, it would be more practical to see if Mexico will let me in.

It’s a bit hypothetical & rhetorical. Best we could do is close the land crossings to all but essential travel like during early covidtimes.. but airports would still be open And Most of the border is wide open and largely unpatrolled, anyways - the largest of its kind in the world.

Even the areas that have fences and a border patrol truck stationed or patrolling are easily crossed if anyone wanted to. Nothing but a 4 foot chain link fence or whatever. Could just hop over it and walk, or if you need a vehicle and want to hit the ditch hard enough on a dirt bike you could sail over with ease.

Apparently the popular smuggling routes have cameras and sensors etc, but all that means is they’d see you crossing.. if they didn’t get there in time you’d disappear into the woods/mountains.

And then there are the areas where it’s ocean or lake water across the border.. can literally just swim or paddle across.

I think the biggest deterrent is going to be the price of everything. Americans will have a gander online and s**t bricks when they see that a suburban house costs $2,000,000.00 so they’ll just stay where they’re at and tune out the maga cult best they can.

Unfortunately, if Trump becomes dictator beyond "day one", he might, ironically, ban all guns in order to prevent any armed resistance. So all we can do is wait for him to die.

Americans are rapist, drug dealers, and murderers, but some of them I am sure, are good people, but as I was saying they will ...poison the blood of your nation.

So obviously not!

Prime Minister Pierre Poilievre will deploy the military to the border to stop American refugees, detaining them and fast-tracking them towards the camps you mention.

Even if he doesn't share the MAGA cult's dictator instincts, he'll bend the knee to avoid conflict and act to enable their dictatorship in order to curry favour.

Doubt it. He knows that most of the crazies with guns are on team maga so won’t worry about where they’re firing since it won’t be at him - much like he wanted them let into the grounds during his insurrection inciting speech.

Even a lot of racist people aren't evil like bad guys in stories. The problem largely isn't what they themselves do, it's who they're willing to enable.

The media needs to dumb everything down and they prefer to focus on narrative and sensationalism rather than details, but that's why one needs to be considerate of how they process media.

I feel like this is about the hundredth time I’ve said this in here, but can I just remind everyone that Trump already served a four-year term as President, and did nothing but talk tough on twitter. The right-populist pledges he made during his 2016 election campaign came to nothing, so the idea that if he gets another term as President he’s going to implement some sort of fascist dictatorship is ridiculous. We have four year’s worth of real world evidence that he is all talk and no action.

Part of me hopes that Trump gets elected again just so I can witness another four years of liberals tearing their hair out over nothing. However, the big negative to a potential Trump presidency as far as I’m concerned is that he’ll probably spend four years sucking up to Israel even more than Biden does.

:?

Dude took a wrecking ball to environmental regulations and anything and everything “that black guy,” did for the USA. He started trade wars that didn’t benefit the USA - he doesn’t even understand which party pay tariffs. He created all kinds of tensions with international relations, including post presidency considering all the classified information he stole and leaked - now no other country can fully trust the USA politically or militarily. He implemented a Muslim ban and stoked the flames of racism with his Mexico rhetoric and “very fine people,” speech about the Charlottesville white supremacists. He have racists and xenophobes the social licence to spread hate in America. He implemented a trans military ban and set off a bunch more hate towards lgbt people. He lied more than 13,000 times. He did his best to dismantled the EPA. (human caused climate change is very real) He spent the entire time lining his own pockets with foreign dignitaries spending big money at his hotels and secret service renting rooms and golf carts.. hell, on the way out the door his son in law collected $2B from the Saudis. He put his kids and family members, who were unqualified and could not obtain security clearances, into positions of power in the White House. He oversaw a disproportionate number of Covid deaths in the USA vs the world as he denied science and refused to lead on the subject, instead turning a lethal viral pandemic into partisan political propaganda. He lied and claimed the military didn’t have any bullets and he rebuilt it.

And on and on and on and on until you do the math and learn that bottom line he added $7.8 Trillion to the national debt in just 4 years - more than any other president in history.. because he ran the country like his businesses; most of which he has bankrupted.

Then he led an insurrection against the US federal government on January 6th 2021 attempting to have ex VP Mike Pence hung and Biden’s win not certified so that his slate of fake electors could install him as unelected dictator.

The there’s the whole decades long business fraud thing - businesses he kept control of during his presidency and continued the fraud he scammed his living by tax theft. Plus a lifetime of sexual assault accusations from dozens of women and a conviction in the E Jean Caroll case.. + the Stormy Daniel’s election interference hush money etc etc etc etc etc all acts making him unfit for the office of the presidency.

I’m sure there’s a lot more, too - but there’s certainly more than just a few crazy old man tweets and to suggest he wouldn’t be able to do anything negative in a second term is extremely naive. There’s already some crazy document about republicans’ plans to stack a future administration with maga trump loyalists and completely destroy the American system of government. Google trump agenda47 and read up on any of the crazy crap they’re aiming for. If trump were to get re-elected the USA as we know it is over because a bunch of lunatic cult members will help him f**k it all up and tear it down.
