Nightmares?

I was reading some of the feedback archives of CMI and I came across this from a person who wrote to CMI:

Funny you mention Aliens, because they're the only "monster" that ever seemed scary to me. Usually my nightmares revolve around my failure in life, but say I toked up and then watched "Fire in the Sky" :!: :cry:

I've had sleep paralysis - it is pretty common to have parts of the mind wake-up before the body does. Voluntary control over the muscles is shut off (hopefully) when in REM sleep and dreaming ... a protective mechanism that sometimes get stuck. Many doctor believe this may be responsible for a variety of reports of alien abduction and demonic visitation, particularly those that occur on awakening, with an innability to speak.

i remember having a pirticular sleep paralysis happen to me and i could hear something else in the room that sounded like a demon talking and i prayed to jesus and nothing happend. i guess my faith wasnt strong enough

or i was hullucinating and my mind was playing tricks on me and no prayer in the world would have saved me

Anyone else notice that Risperdal has no effect?

Yes, but those are common side effects. Did you sometimes feel like your head's about to explode too? I don't usually have headaches, but I've been having many minor ones on Risperdal, and now that I've switched to Seroquel and Haldol, it's gotten worse.

(Sorry, I won't hijack your thread. These things have been worrying me and my pdoc didn't think it relevant.)

I had one experience with sleep paralysis, a few months ago. While in REM sleep I opened my eyes and saw someone climbing through my bedroom window. I couldn't speak or move and naturally panicked. Somehow I knew I was dreaming, although it was very real - I saw the person with my eyes open. After a few seconds I was able to move and investigate - there was no-one.

It is not a demon, it's your subconsience.

Sleep paralysis commonly occurs along with hypnagogic or hypnopompic imagery - ie, part of the brain is awake, but part is still dreaming. It is somewhat analogous to a lucid dream.

No, I haven't had headaches with Risperdal. Hoping to eventually leave the drug though, according to Dr. Lutzwick I'm taking it for atypical bipolar and now I'm switching to Lexapro but still on both for now. Hope you find something to stop the headaches.

What angers me a bit is my pdoc dismissed it as nothing. Thanks for answering.

Although I have seen Patty-bird walk upside down on the bottom of the upper bunk once, that is not what this dream was about. Within deep-sleep and not while I'm partially awake. Are you a doctor or something?
