I find it odd that religious people don't seem to want to protect the earth. If your god/goddess/gods made the earth then wouldn't it be insulting to your god to pollute the earth?? I mean after all the pollution is not only killing people it is also slowly killing the earth and all life.

Meh, the rapture's coming soon anyway. Besides, one of the names for the devil in Christianity is "the god of this world" 2 Cor 4:4, so if we argued from a Christian perspective, we aren't screwing over God so much as the devil. So, keep those SUVs up and running to fight Satan's evil!

The Earth doesn't need protection. It doesn't give a damn if all life disappears and the planet turns into a desert like Mars or an acid atmosphere over an oven hot surface like Venus. But if humans want to protect themselves they have to be careful. So far they don't seem to care.

The Earth needs protection, certainly. The responsibility of good stewardship lies on us, humankind. Man is the only species from whose extinction every other would benefit.

Jesus will make the Earth anew upon His return. A New Earth, not a blown-up Earth. This degree of apathy is unattractive.

Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven, and not an earthly one. The Earth is transitory, but the Kingdom of God is eternal.

QFT. God put man on the earth to care for it, not to trash it. He needs to see our responsibility in taking care of something as "transitory" as the Earth before being given the responsibility to do so in a place like heaven... Earth is basically God's "sandbox"...

With the question above - as broadly as you stated it - I don't think anyone would disagree. Hope that's not a logic thermometer for a more intricate issue because it won't work.

That might be the thinking of few fundies I would assume, I can see one firmly believing in the second coming of Christ, then seeing no point in protecting the earth anyway, according to the belief, that kind of thinking I believe it can be dangerous, if everybody would share that kind of thinking, however, I thank God that not all think that way.

Yes, and look what we've done to animals, plants and the Earth. So far we have been unbelievably poor stewards. Stewardship, as you know, is not ownership.

The rapture will happen, but it will be by aliens, to want to experiment on those primitive humans, who only thing they do is to destroy their own planet and causing wars and desease, etc. Aliens may not have any sympathy with creatures like that, they may use human beliefs and fears to have fun with them.
