Actually, in a moment of sheer pseudosientific awesomeosity, an evolutionary psychologist once suggested the preference for pink might have to do with the fact that women in primitive societies tend more towards being gatherers, so a keen eye for bright fruity colors would be an advantage. Actually I heard of this second hand by someone who was mocking how much ep's get to BS...
Women do tend to have larger vocabularies for colors, and are waay less prone to color blindness, so the idea that their affinity for color in general is possibly natural is plausible. It would simply remain to show that there is some kind of objective reason that pink taps into this. I have no reason to suppose that at present though.
well, I'm not sure about that in scientific terms, I usually conclude that the pink color for women to be an artificial construct, as well as odors and perfumes, why perfumes for women smell different from perfumes for men? Who or what established how a woman is supposed to smell like and how a man is supposed to smell like, was it nature or was it artificial? that in itself also raises the question of claims that perfumes to be aphrodisiacs, which it seems likely to be artificial social constructs that we learn, from birth in society.
Clothes, make up, long hair, why women put on make-up to attract men, how come men are not the ones that have to wear make-up, wear dresses, wear clothes with pink colors, in order to attract women? where this actually come from? It is something interesting to wonder about.
