Certainly that, too.

Quote:
Trump’s actions in office have been even more disturbing. His visit to CIA headquarters on his first full day in office, an overture designed to repair relations, was undone by his ego and bluster. Standing in front of a memorial to the CIA’s fallen officers, he seemed to be addressing the cameras and reporters in the room, rather than the agency personnel in front of them, bragging about his inauguration crowd the previous day. Whether delusional or deceitful, these were not the remarks many of my former colleagues and I wanted to hear from our new commander in chief. I couldn’t help but reflect on the stark contrast between the bombast of the new president and the quiet dedication of a mentor — a courageous, dedicated professional — who is memorialized on that wall. I know others at CIA felt similarly.

The final straw came late last month, when the White House issued a directive reorganizing the National Security Council, on whose staff I served from 2014 until earlier this year. Missing from the NSC’s principals committee were the CIA director and the director of national intelligence. Added to the roster: the president’s chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, who cut his teeth as a media champion of white nationalism

Washington Post: I didn’t think I’d ever leave the CIA. But because of Trump, I quit. Edward Price February 20

It's not an argument. It's a question. How is someone who does those things wonderful?

Many historical heroes have a checkered past. Many if not most respected monarchs, prime ministers, presidents and other leaders have said and done regrettable things. In his day, Abraham Lincoln was also greatly despised by half the people of the United States. But what kind of people were they? The people who despise Donald Trump are the type of whiny childish hypocrites who make myriad death threats, have been filmed rioting and pillaging, verbally and physically attacking people and so on.

You have not answered my question. How is someone who does such things "wonderful"?

You're right, that didn't answer your question. It was more answering how a person who has done regrettable things isn't necessarily terrible. But asking how does someone doing something wrong make them wonderful is a non sequitur. Obviously the person who called him wonderful was referring to the positive rather than the negative.

But the thing is, Trump isn't doing something good like curing cancer. The things he's being criticized for are hardly all that altruistic.

"Allahu Akbar" means "God is great". It's their version of your "Praise the Lord".

I was thinking that when I saw that dumb sensationalist headline too. Not like there's much use trying to talk sense into Islamophobic people though.

Islamic people: gather to protest a ban against people of their religion in a country that claims freedom of religion, loudly exclaim a common religious phrase

But isn't the parody suggesting that in the eyes of leftist media, Trump can do no good whatsoever? That even his positive accomplishments will be given a negative spin?

I mean it seems like a lot of journalists and 40% of the nation would rather swallow drain cleaner, than admit Trump did something good.

Well, when he does something good, I'll give him credit.

Stephen Miller, one of the President's advisers:

Miller said the courts engaged in "usurpation" of the President's power when they struck down Trump's Muslim ban order. He also said on the same subject, "The end result of this, though, is that our opponents, the media, and the whole world will soon see, as we begin to take further actions, that the powers of the President to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned."

He said also, "And the bottom line is the President's powers in this area represent the apex of executive authority."

He said, "We will have unquestioned military strength beyond anything anybody can imagine."

And, finally, on Trump's unsubstantiated allegations that widespread voter fraud was why he lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, he said, "It is a fact--and you will not deny it--that there are massive numbers of non-citizens in this country who are registered to vote. That is a scandal. We should stop the presses! ... That's the story we should be talking about, and I'm prepared to go on any show, anywhere, anytime and repeat it and say the President of the United States is correct one hundred percent!"

Talk about dramatic statements. Is this what we have to deal with? Why is it that the worst keep coming into power? :(
