Obama's "New" plan to reduce the deficit
.
There is not a single word, not a syllable in the U.S. Constitution that gives the government the power to regulate wages. And regulation of interstate commerce does not cut it. Regulation of interstate commerce at the time of the adaption of the constitution consisted of regulating tariffs and imposts interstate and preventing obstructions to commerce on the rivers. Wage control is not constitutional. It never has been. If you want wage control then an amendment to the U.S. Constitution is called for.

Governments should exist for the following reasons:
1. To maintain an armed force against enemies foreign
and a diplomatic force so we can have less enemies foreign and armed forces (its cheaper)
2. To maintain a police force against enemies domestic
and a educational force teaching civics so we can have less enemies domestic and less cops. (its cheaper)
3. To maintain courts of law to punish crimes and to settle torts peacefully
4. To organize resources in case of natural disaster.
before you say I doubled the size of your government
I say I have reduced it by 40%
Our only foreign policy should be trade.

And those soulless multi-national corporations are the ones who benefit the most from high minimum wage. While a mega-company like Walmart can absorb the additional costs, mom and pop shops can't and are driven out of business and then Walmart picks up the additional market share. Same thing happens with all regulations, they hurt the little guy way more than they hurt the Walmarts of the world. Competition is what drives up wages not the government and when you snuff out these small businesses, these large corporations are even less accountable.
and yes, federally mandated minimum wage is completely unconstitutional but it's not even worth arguing that with you guys. It's bad policy no matter how you cut it.

I share you sentiments. Write your Congress-Critter concerning the abolition or modification of our Constitution. In the mean time we should be adhering to the Law of the Land, which is the U.S. Constitution. I think we ought to half the size of our current military establishment, also. Since the demise of the Soviet Union and its Allies we have no business arming for WW3.

Ugh. Even if there were no state or federal minimum wages Walmart would still drive smaller stores out of business. I propose making regulations more practical and adding flexibility for smaller businesses. Your solution is throwing out the baby with the bath water. You are a naive extremist.

Do you rally love Mom and Pop so much you are willing to pay much higher prices?

I must say, you provide compelling counter argument.
Look up what happened in American Samoa when federally mandated minimum wage took effect there in 2007.
Actually, lets go full circle and let Peter Schiff explain it to you

It was the Republicans who were pushing for the higher minimum wage in American Samoa
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/200 ... 720-2734r/
Lately, Fox News and the Republican candidates have been calling for "Class Warfare." They accuse President Obama of engaging in "Class Warfare" for wanting to increase taxes on the rich. Instead, they want the bottom half of the economic ladder to pay more in taxes, while cutting taxes for the rich. This is what the damned Republican governor in Michigan accomplished.
When will those damned stupid teabaggers ever learn? I can just see them chanting: "Raise my Taxes! Cut the Taxes for the Rich!"
Fox News and the Republican Party are most definitely steeped in class warfare.

The problem isn't that tax rates are too low, the problem is there are too many regulations because government is trying to micromanage everything.

The short answer is that the rich can afford it, and the not-rich are less able to afford it, in proportion the degree to which they are not-rich.
Every human being needs a comparable amount of food every day (figuring weight for age).
Every human being needs a minimum level of shelter (adjusted for climate)
Every human being needs a basic amount of clothing (ditto)
The basic necessities of life make up a much larger proportion of a low income earner's pay packet than mine. My larger pay packet allows me to enjoy better food, restaurant meals, a bigger house (that I own, rather than rent), a better wardrobe, and many luxuries that are denied to others. But that access comes at the price of recognizing that I don't need any of these extras. But the family trying to live off a minimum wage earner's income of about $20,000 per year (in this country) needs every penny of that for the basics.
And that's why I should pay at higher rates.

Uh the rich are the people that hire people and invest in businesses so businesses hire. Why are we hiking taxes and demonizing the people that we want to start hiring people? They aren't hiring because all the stupid regulations coming out of Washington makes everything too unpredictible in a bad way.

lets do the basic miz-ath
if a rich man has an extra 100 grand he saves it etc.
if 100 poor folks have 1000 each they spend the hell out of that crap.
if you want to heat the economy up give money to poor folks.

They are also the people who buy small companies and lay off half of the employees as redundant.
And then a few years later just decide that owning the IP is good enough and outsource the whole thing.
Ask how i know.
They are also the people who buy small companies and lay off half of the employees as redundant.
.
The small companies were started by capitalists in the first place.
So, you are only demonizing Big Capitalists as opposed to small capitalists. Did I get this right?
So, any Capitalist who is well off enough to buy a company from another capitalist is a bad guy. RIght?
