Obama scores big, Republicans score a little, insurance companies score a little. Low-income people totally lose. Glad I don't live there.

Two that you've found.

I'm hoping to start a trend, that way we will always remember that you are the boy who lied about the German pirates whenever you try and convince of the the breadth and depth of your experience and skill.

I'll enjoy it more than u will.
Of course, that kinda conduct from u is against the terms of use but I'm not one to play moderator...... :P

Next stop: Single payer maladministration of the health care delivery system. If we are unlucky we will end up with an abortion like the NHS in Britain.

Sooner or later the government will take over the production and distribution of food. Then we can all stand in line a half a day waiting for our next meal.

I hope you're exercising your sense of hyperbole, rather than believing that Republican hokum with that last part about distributing food.

Oh, you worry too much. You already have the Single-payer Medicare system. And, you haven't been summoned before the Death Panels yet.

The government heavily subsidizes our food production. The government is involved in ensuring the safety of our food supply. Because of government intervention, Mad Cow Disease didn't become the major problem in the USA that it was in England. There is no plan for the government to take over the production and distribution of food, because, at present, there is no major market failure. There are subsidized school lunches and food stamps. There isn't any need for a whole lot more.

There is a market failure in our health care system, and hence the need for government intervention.

Plenty of Canadians come down here as well for more complicated procedures. I remember some premier coming down here for heart surgery not too long ago.

Our two medical infrastructures are quite entwined with each other, so that does not surprise me. The difference between Canadians going south for complicated surgery with a recommendation from their doctors, and Americans going north for basic care should be obvious, however. Besides one of these actions being against the law

Cuba is another popular destination for complicated procedures. Venezuela's president went there.

In order for hyperbole to be funny it should at least have some small semblance, albeit exaggerated, of truthfulness. Shear delusional fantasy fails to be funny in terms of satire. It's only funny in that it inspires people to laugh at you rather than with you.

These are problems with cost as opposed to access. Obama's plan more targets greater coverage of insurance of people who can buy health insurance but choose not to for whatever reason as a way of offsetting the cost of insurance companies no longer being able to deny care for preexisting conditions and does absolutely nothing the curb the cost of actual healthcare and insurance. It's likely that costs will continue to skyrocket and now you are legally mandated to purchase health insurance.

As far as the quality of healthcare, America is bar none. From a purely medical standpoint, there is no other place in the world I'd rather be.

By the way, not to bring the discussion back to something resembling the original topic or anything, but I am somehow on the US Chamber of Commerce's e-mail list.

Quote:
Dear Arrant Pariah,

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States issued their much-anticipated ruling on the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, upholding the law as Constitutional.

While we respect the Court’s ruling, it doesn’t change the clear reality that this health care law is fundamentally flawed and immensely unpopular with the American people.

Without much-needed reforms, this law is certain to cost many Americans their employer-based health insurance, undermine job creation, and raise health care costs for us all.

Following today’s outcome, one thing is true. Our country can’t afford the failed policies from the last few years, allowing Congress to ram through legislation that stifles growth with taxes and mandates instead of spurring it with American enterprise.

After leading the fight against Obamacare two years ago, we have 131 days until the election to finish what we started, and send a clear message to Washington.

Now more than ever, we need your help. The U.S. Chamber is engaged in our most aggressive efforts in our 100 year history to hold candidates accountable for their position on the issues most consequential to our economy. With your continued support, candidates can’t hide from their vote in favor of Obamacare.

We need policymakers to work with job creators, instead of against them, to develop genuine, common sense reforms that will control costs, improve access, ensure quality, and promote wellness.

These are the reforms we need. And they are absolutely achievable. And with the Court’s decision, the need for action has never been greater.

We hope you’ll be a part of this effort to bring real, true, and meaningful reform that improves the quality and affordability of health care that Americans receive and stand with us in the coming days. It’s time to remind Washington that at the end of the day – voters have the final say.

Sincerely,

Rob Engstrom
Senior Vice President and National Political Director
U.S. Chamber of Commerce

What a bunch of doofs! The want "genuine, common sense reforms that will control costs, improve access, ensure quality, and promote wellness" and assert that "These are the reforms we need!" But they don't even give a hint as to what reforms they want.

Cuba beats the USA in a number of health outcomes, including life expectancy.
