I think you know that I know that you know from our past threads on the subject that there's more to it than making a gun go bang.
Is there more to voting than driving your old '63 Nova to the polls??

Well, making a gun go bang bang is all I can figure a gun is good for. As I'm not a gun aficionado, anything else escapes me.

And yet you feel your opinion is worth something to those of us who know a whole lot more about what guns are good for...

I made the comparison on page one so it's nothing recent. The thing is that progressives like yourself and others here only see issues that pertain to what you define as "civil rights" and have the gall to accuse conservatives of being narrow minded.

How is maintaining the ability for voters to be heard progressive? I am against going backwards to the point where another entire bill needs to be constructed to protect the voters.

And I will definitely accuse you of being narrow minded with your 100% for me or 100% against me attitude on almost every issue.

You don't get it.
Probably intentionally but in effect you still don't get it.

I really don't get it. You may have to spell this one out for me.

I take the time to spell it out for you - run 1
You come back with hyperbole - run 1
I point out the hyperbole - run 1
You parrot it and accuse me of hyperbole - run 1
I show you the difference between yours and my arguments - run 1
You accuse me of taking things out of context - run 1
I take the time to better illustrate my stand - run 1
You accuse me of thinly veiled hate speech - run 1
I tell you you're hopeless in so many words - run 1
You tell me I'm hopeless in so many words and that I'm mean on top of that and then ask me to show you how you're hopeless- run 1
So I take the time to spell it out for you again - run 2
You come back with hyperbole again- run 2
I point out the hyperbole again - run 2
You parrot it and accuse me of hyperbole again- run 2
I show you the difference between yours and my arguments again- run 2
You accuse me of taking things out of context again- run 2
I take the time to better illustrate my stand again- run 2
You accuse me of thinly veiled hate speech again- run 2
I tell you you're hopeless in so many words again - run 2
You tell me I'm hopeless in so many words and that I'm mean on top of that and then ask me to show you how you're hopeless- run 2
So I take the time to spell it out for you yet again- run 3
You come back with hyperbole yet again- run 3
I point out the hyperbole yet again- run 3
You parrot it and accuse me of hyperbole yet again- run 3
See the trend?Well, you won't claim to but you do.......

This would be more accurate:
I express an opinion
You respond with condescension, claiming that your insults are somehow in depth proof of something or another
I respond with a clarification of my opinions, usually with the reasoning that got me there
You respond with condescension, claiming that your insults are somehow in depth proof of something or another
I respond to your post by restating my opinions
You state that I use nothing but hyperbole and that using the words "I feel" somehow makes my opinion invalid
I point out your ridiculous hypocrisy
You start whining, and point out the way that I respond is not right, despite the fact that I am only responding in the same tone
I once again point out that you do not have the high ground, and that everyone should be allowed to have their own opinions
You whine some more, accuse me of not presenting any arguments, then claim that you have torn apart my arguments
I point out yet again that I am expressing my opinions
You accuse me of having emotions and that somehow disqualifies me from being allowed to have an opinion
I point out the absurdity of your post
You respond by implying that you are somehow the undeniable victor in the discussion
I point out that what you have posted is opinion, not fact
You respond with some rambling that I have a hard time following
I ask for clarification
You once again refuse to elaborate and instead rely on insults and condescension.

/\ Looks like some of that incivility you accuse me of creeping in there. :shameonyou:
If I were a betting man, I'd bet that this \/ is what has your tail in a knot; having your own level of logic and "I want" and "I feel" rationale applied to another hot topic.

If you can realistically explain to me how any of this BS reduces voter fraud (which is not even prevalent enough to even be said to exist from a statistical standpoint) I will buy you a cookie.

I just feel that some measures should be in place to curb whatever voter fraud there is. I also think that only property owners should be able to vote. I also think that in order to obtain a voter ID card there should be some national standard of testing to verify each voter has the intelligence to cast a vote that is going to impact everyone else's future.
Gee, where have I seen someone want legislation based on what they feel and think?
Hmmmm......... :chin:

Here's a cookie for you, too:

I guess to sum it up, you feel that you should be able to express an opinion favoring draconian gun legislation unopposed but someone else can't express an opinion favoring draconian voting legislation. The only difference is I was joking whereas you're actually serious about what you want which makes it so pathetic.

Raptor, are you familiar with the concept of 'concern trolling'? You might want to look into it before sinking more time into this.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
Concern troll

A concern troll is a false flag pseudonym created by a user whose actual point of view is opposed to the one that the user claims to hold. The concern troll posts in Web forums devoted to its declared point of view and attempts to sway the group's actions or opinions while claiming to share their goals, but with professed "concerns". The goal is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt within the group.[37]

Urban Dictionary:

Quote:
concern troll
A person who posts on a blog thread, in the guise of "concern," to disrupt dialogue or undermine morale by pointing out that posters and/or the site may be getting themselves in trouble, usually with an authority or power. They point out problems that don't really exist. The intent is to derail, stifle, control, the dialogue. It is viewed as insincere and condescending.

Sound like anyone you've been arguing with lately? Someone who claims to be "on our side" but who has "concerns" about non-existent problems and possible backlash to another shooting if something isn't done perhaps?

That was the first time I'd ever seen that term used. I would have never thought there was a definition or better yet a Wikipedia article on them. I don't know if I'd classify sonofghandi as a "concern troll" or not. What I am seeing is a concoction of typical protectionist behavior. I could go in to more detail but to no useful avail. We've actually been battling over this since about mid last year and it became evident to me then that no progress would ever be made. It is not much different than any other gunz-r-bad discussion. Even if he is a troll then he's certainly not the first I've played in the mud with nor the last.
And I think he's finally learning that accusing me of incivility and condescension, true or not, causes me zero butthurt but only excites the wolf in me.
