People against freedom of speech and opinion more now.
Oh okay, but it seems that people on the extreme left always want to project their world views onto others and do things like cancel culture, if that person doesn't agree. Wouldn't that be fascist of the left though, and they thus the more extreme left are fascist? Or so I thought.

Even if the crowd doesn't disperse they still shouldn't shoot rubber bullets at peoples faces. That said a lot of the people who suffered injuries from this were just bystanders who weren't even protesting, and I think there were reports of not much warning or opportunity for crowds to disperse before the brutality.

And you don't think the right try to project their world views onto others with their own versions of cancel culture and other techniques? Rightwing facts for their projection of beliefs often start at just preaching from the bible.
Fascist is not just being authoritative, it is defined by being far-right and ultra nationalistic. Usually founded by an inherent sense of superiority, and usually has senses of a great origin that they should return to. What usually gets called cancel culture nowadays is not generally have the traits of fascism, and if it did it would by definition be rightwing.
Like imagine a world where race relations went so far that white people became property of black people (not saying this is plausible) if a white person was canceled within this culture for being bad against a black person, that would be coming from the rightwing side of politics, a fascistic protection of the power structure of pushing down a minority.

Conservative Americans right now saying that Fox News is communist because it is admitting that that Joe Biden won the election, you don't think that is canceling?
The Right are constantly trying to cancel people. They threw a fit and destroyed products when Gillette spoke out against toxic masculinity. They ended an athlete's career for kneeling for the anthem. And so on.
If it looks like the administration side of Twitter is going after the Right more, than that goes to show how the Right are more likely do things like actually harass and be abusive to other people, or use dangerous misinformation.

Oh okay, I didn't think that those cancellations were successful though, because of course the President's career is not going to be ended by it, but yes that is canceling as well good point. So I guess the right and the left are both into cancel culture now. Which athlete was that?
I think it's everyone's right to decide to stop watching a TV show or watching a TV station or listening to a radio station, etc.
Just remember when some conservatives were whining about sports being ruined by the "left wing" because of Black Lives Matter stuff and how they can no longer watch the games anymore. That is cancelling them pretty much. But it is still their right to stop watching sports and going to the games. But I also see it as their loss too.

Oh yeah, everyone has the right stop watching, but it's just I don't think TV shows should be cancelled by people because those people think they are better for whatever reason. That's where it seems like fascism to me, because you think you are better than the other person and that is why you are cancelling them.
For example, after the George Floyd murder, the TV show Paw Patrol was cancelled. But I don't think it should have been cancelled for a completly unrelated event. I think it should have been up to the parents of the children as to whether or not it was cancelled but the parents I know, didn't know it was cancelled because it already happened so fast, before people had a chance to refuse to watch it. That's where it seems like it's more fascist, at least that's what it comes off as.
They are cancelling people because of things they don't like rather than doing it as a favor to the people because it's what they want, so to speak. A TV show should be cancelled because of a ratings, decline, not because of completely unrelated events.
But I think there is a line between not watching a show, compared to canceling it directly by kicking it off the other for a fascist reason, and that is where the line is, to me it seems at least.
Oh okay, I read before it was cancelled earlier this year, and was told so by my friends who's kids watched it back then, but I guess that was a mistake. But the article does mention how other cop shows were cancelled as a result if that's true? So I guess if it is, that would be cancel culture then?

I thought Hitler was more left though, since people on the extreme left seem to believe in government supression of certain things, which is what Hitler was into. So I thought he was more extreme left.
Hitler was a reactionary nationalist, which is about as right wing as you can get.

Just disagreeing with Fox News or calling them names is not cancel culture. It needs to be at least a serious attempt to silence them to put them out of business. In the 60s John Lennon said the Beatles were bigger then Jesus at the time. In response there were record burnings. That did not work. 13 years the “Disco Sucks” movement specifically “Disco Demolition Night” was more successful.

People often whine about "muh free speech", but have no idea how it actually works.
Free speech does not mean "you can say whatever you want, period". It just means the GOVERNMENT, won't dictate what people can or can't say (exceptions apply). PEOPLE can still have an opinion of you, and are allowed to act on it. If free speech was a "free" as people seem to think it is, then every terrible thing anyone ever said would be "protected speech".
Free speech also does not mean one person's free speech overrides another person's free speech. Person A has every right to say "Birds are evil!". Person B has every right to respond "No, birds are not evil!" If person A uses free speech to justify their statement, then by that same edict, that should accept the other person's free speech as well. This is why "MY free speech, so YOU shut up!" is an idiotic statement. If you really believe in free speech, Person A should respect Person B's free speech to disagree.
Telling someone to "shut up" is the exact opposite of free speech, even if it's in the name of one's own free speech. That's prioritizing A's right to free speech over B's right to free speech. In other words, Person A has the privilege of making the statement, while Person B is denied the same privilege, for the sake of "greater freedom" of A. When one person's "freedom" is prioritized over another's, that's privilege.
As for the consequences, it says you have the right to freedom of speech - it does not guarantee any protections beyond that, like not being fired for saying dumb crap, or that people have to like you, even if you say nasty things. The constitution isn't a guarantee of unlimited freedom - it's a contract that says "you will get at least this much freedom".

When I think of freedom of speech, I am usually thinking about entertainment and the arts.
Usually, it's the right who wants to stifle and censor art, film and television, often on religious grounds. For the late senator Jesse Helms, it was almost his whole reason for living.
Actions from the left lately include recasting voice actors on animated shows (Simpsons, Family Guy, Big Mouth, etc.), and cutting back on sex jokes in response to MeToo.
I do not support censorship of the arts of any kind, whether it's from the right or the left.
