Your hard-earned gas money at work

Thanks, Prince.
It's funny when i keep seeing these things.
Because here the gas price is atleast double of that in america.
5 dollar a gallon would be a bargin here.
But hey how else can they shower the top guys from shell with so many million euro bonusses every year.
Wether we like it or not our goverments get filthy rich from insane taxes on gas.
And all this because it's supposedly poluting the planet.
Meanwhile the money gets spend on theyr extremely high wages and private drivers driving them around in mercedeses.
Ofcourse they are loyal people, so all theyr buddies get given hugely overpaid jobs wich have no real use.
But hey this is only the beginning.
Since the start of these supposed democracys they have slowly been changing them into dictatorships in wich us plebs are only used for our money.
I wil laugh when the oil runs out in the middle east and these %%%(*)( get back to riding on theyr camels.
Meanwhile unfortunately they wil live like kings and steadily make us regular people poorer, because let's face it theres no way around gas.
I can't go to work without something relying on some fosil fuel.
I did however start using my bycicle more because i can't afford to drive to everything anymore.
Well...
Al-Waleed (who owns the diamond covered Mercedes) is technically a good guy, you know? He is hated by many Saudis and Fundie Muslims because he is given plenty of women rights and privileges in working.
If you guys don't know about al-Waleed, here's a vid by a Saudi hater of his:

You're funny. So if you break the law in a way that is harmful to other people in pursuit of your self-interest you are acting in the interest of society?

Sorry bub, a Cartel pretty much Is a Monopoly. If you see a gas station selling Regular(87 Octane)fuel at less than $3.00/gallon you lemme know

Well, the issue is that laissez-faire economists would tend to either argue that you will hurt your self-interest by taking this action, or that the law is a mechanism designed to ensure that self-interest is aligned with the social good, and thus a the inability to disincentize a law breaker is a governmental failure. His statement really was not funny at all, most laissez faire economists believe that corporations don't give a crap about people. Some have argued that they shouldn't. Milton Friedman for example was a major enemy of corporate social responsibility, arguing that the only responsibility they had was to make a profit.

Um... false. There's more than one oil company. You could argue that we're in somewhat of a cartel situation with OPEC, but the fact that there is currently no product that is a good substitute for petroleum does not inherently make the oil industry a monopoly. Please check the definitions of words that you're going to try to use.
Well, in a way the oil companies have another kind of competition, though it's a bit outside the box. It's more efficient cars, and people choosing to drive less. It doesn't particularly matter if the gas companies are collaberating to create a secret monoploy, in time high prices may actually cause them to lose money as people take steps to consume less gas. Sure, it'll take sometime for those things to change, but the reverse is also true; once they have changed, it'll take a long time to change back if gas prices fall. In fact, they may become permanent if people get a taste for saving money.
This fact makes me somewhat skeptical of monopoly claims. Sure, prices might go up a little in a monopoly, but probably not as high as they are right now. The gas companies are risking shrinking their market permanently. I doubt that any group smart enough to pull of a secret monopoly of the scale being suggested would be so stupid to not think of this fact.

When I said "you're funny" to Orwell I was being sarcastic. Are Mobsters who organize and run violent criminal gangs to get rich(acting in their financial self-interest)acting in the interests of society?? I dont think so. I of course am Not an economist but that doesnt mean I know nothing about human behaviour
