Telling others not to celebrate Easter because it's from the Devil is pure arrogance ...

Where has anyone here told anyone else what to do?

The message is obvious. What's the point of this thread then?

Nobody presents the easter bunny as spiritual doctrine.

From the article linked in the OP:

Quote:
As the earliest rays of the dawning sun appear in the sky April 24, hundreds of millions of Christians will celebrate their most holy day of the year ...

But a week earlier, April 17, members of the Jehovah's Witnesses will celebrate their most important date ...

So, it would seem an alternative has simply been offered.

Meaning?

If he had no problem with Christians celebrating Easter, why make a thread condemning Easter in the first place?

Why/how does/would a thread condemning Easter prove someone has a problem with Christians doing as they please?

I do understand "Guilty as perceived" is the rule here on WP, but even that still does not actually prove anything.

I see the battle is still raging.

Seems like you are the only one doing any condemning around here.

It's called common sense. When you condemn a practice, it means you are basically telling others that it's wrong to practice it. Even if, for the sake of political correctness, you add that you have no problem with them practicing it.

You are free to celebrate whatever it is you want to celebrate. I do not demonize what you celebrate nor do I demonize you for celebrating it.

My concern is that you feel your own personal faith decides what's right and what's wrong for others to celebrate and enjoy.

Apply this logic to yourself for a minute. You don't agree with Christians choosing not to observe heathen feast days, so you're condemning them and telling them they are wrong.

Or is your logic exclusively one-way? Does it only work when applied to others, not to yourself?

Those are matters you will have to take up with "God", not one of His mere messengers.

Easter's the one with the chocolate eggs, flying bells and rabbits carrying baskets, right?

Your argument above might make some sense if I ever did argue that Christians aren't supposed to neglect "heathen feast days".

(Un)fortunately, I've been arguing that each person is free to celebrate what he/she chooses to celebrate but without putting down others for celebrating what they themselves choose to celebrate.

I think it began with some kind of basket falling from the sky and an egg-laying rabbit jumping out ... or something like that.

That's the problem right there. Thinking that God himself said it.

I never said that I decided what was right for others, only me.

Define "others."

If you mean the heathen, then, no. They do not follow God's commandments, so they do as they please.

True Christians will not celebrate a heathen festival. If anyone professes to be a Christian yet chooses to do celebrate heathen festivals, I do not "condemn" them, because in my mind they are clearly identified as not being a true Christian anyway, by their own actions, so it's all the same to me.

In any case, it is not "my own personal faith" that is deciding this or that. Faith is defined as trust or confidence in someone or something. Faith is not a person; it is an emotion. Therefore, how can it decide anything?

It is God himself who decides what I must and must not do, and I merely strive to do as I am told.

Yes, the unholy Satanic rabbits. Or were they bunnies?
