The King would send the banker to debtors prison and then the King would set up his own banking system. Why should the King show the banker any mercy if the banker is a shark and he beats up people to collect debts while the banker owes the King millions of dollars?

Why not regulate the banks so they don't f**k up in the first place. If all of our economy depends on the financial sector, idiot CEO's shouldn't be allowed to turn commercial banks into gambling casinos for their personal profit. They weren't allowed to do this until congress under Republican control decided to deregulate banks in the late 1990s and Clinton caved under their demands.

In any case, it's double standard to extend relief to failing banks after they act irresponsibly and then say "tough luck" to the homeowners who may or may not have acted irresponsibly. This is what the OWS protesters are rightfully pissed about.

Oh, but if we regulate the banks, and show any sympathy toward ordinary homeowners, that would be SOCIALISM!! !! !! !! And God knows we can't mistreat our financial betters! :P

It's not like the homeowners demanded that their mortgages be totally forgiven because the banks received their bailouts. What the homeowners asked was for a foreclosure moratorium so the unemployed could get back on their feet again and they asked for loan modifications to lower the interest and the principle of the loan. Instead the bankers responded by demanding that the homeowners pay huge lump sum payments in order to modify the loan. If the homeowner had hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cash lying around he could easily have kept up with his house payments so this was not a fair offer.

I do agree with you here, banks should be regulated.

I live in Australia…

*My student loans from our government are not subject to interest, they do not increase each year and we can pay these off in manageable amounts

*Our minimum wage is the equivalent of $14 USD and our working week is limited to 38 hours by LAW

*Welfare is available to whoever needs it, we do not have to wait years to qualify

*Every citizen automatically receives health cover for life-threatening illnesses and severe and chronic pain.

- Our government and country is not in recession

- Our corporations still make an insane profit

-We are looked after

IT IS POSSIBLE

I'd love to move to Australia for everything that's showcased here - it's just that I live in absolute terror of being eaten alive by salt water crocodiles. Plus, some people say that there might even be plesiasauruses lurking off the coasts. 8O
In actuality, I want to stay here and fight for the same thing in America. 8)

They're just something to look at while the snakes spiders sneak up on you. Remember to put the Vegemite behind your ears so the drop bears don't get you.

So, let me get this straight, someone who manufactures a product that makes millions of lives more comfortable (or in some cases even livable at all) is a loser because the sell that product for a profit. But someone who hands out a few cans of perishable food at the homeless shelter is a winner.

Actually, it's more like this...

Nobody is making the doctors out to be the bad guys, as it's the drug companies who have made it their life's ambition to defeat any sort of healthcare reform all for the sake of greed. The Wall Street executive had in fact nearly wrecked the economy, and are getting home owners foreclosed on, again, all for the sake of greed. Sounds pretty bad to me.

Geez, and these guys probably thought once they were out of Iraq, they didn't have to worry about severe injuries inflicted on them anymore.
