You're a liar, and a spectacularly bad one. When did i say I support radical Islam?

I support legitimate nationalist struggles against larger oppressive powers, that is something completely different if you're referring to the Palestinians.

I would support Bashir Assad (a seculiarist) before I support the Syrian Islamist rebels.

Al-Assad isn't supported by the people, and comes from the same party as Saddam Hussein. Radical Islam grew as a radical centrist alternative to communism and Arab socialism, and even King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is less of a d!ck to his people than Bashad Al-Assad or Saddam Hussein was. The USSR is at least partially responsible for the lack of women's rights in some Middle Eastern countries today.

I respect the current Russian government to a certain degree though.

I wasn't particularly a fan of the Mujahadeen during the 80's either. Women's advocacy took a massive backstep because of them.

That picture was taken before communist Afghanistan.

You seem to support these people though! And your totally fine with religions that degrade women and stonings and such.

No, you continue to lie to suit your own agenda. Whats more you're just continuing to make yourself look like a hypocrite and a jackass considering what I've said.

The issue with Palestine is a completely different context to the one to do with women's rights.

If someone supports Irish Republicanism does that also make them sexist because of Ireland's appalling record on women's access to abortion?

It wasnt the communists that made them cover up though.

Quite the contrary, it was the Soviets and the communists that were first to understand the danger posed by political Islam when the US was still arming Bin Laden and his friends.

All the oppression of women came later when the CIA's friends and the US puppets got into power.

It wasn't Islam either; the picture you posted was from when Islam was widespread (although not militant, for the most part). The notion that women are property stems from India, and spread slowly to the muslim world when Pakistan was created. It gained foothold after the Islamic revolution in Iran. The notion that women are weak, helpless, and should serve primarily as incubators, stems from the communist countries. If you combine these notions, you have the view of women that dominate Iran (which is heavily inspired by the USSR in general) today.

Generally speaking, after Lenin's demise, the USSR was extremely patriarchal, and never had a single woman in the Politburo. This is of course not exclusive to the USSR; Romania during Ceaucescu or China during Mao were even worse than Saudi-Arabia is today.

Bin Laden became an extremist in his early 30's, and was at one point in his life a person who liked to travel in Europe, studied to become a civil engineer, and loved Premier League soccer. Just like Mussolini, he was brainwashed by someone above him. Like I said: Radical Islam originated during the cold war. Dictatorships who were aligned with the west (Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, and UAE) still have basic human rights today. The ones who based themselves on the Soviet model, generally do not.

If the Afghan communists didn't shove their atheism down everyone's throats, chances are that Taliban wouldn't gain any power in the first place. Even so, the communists were far more vicious in terms of violent deaths than anyone after them has ever been.

Sharia Law encourages the oppression of women and stoning them to death.

Its rather a cop out to say that Islamic extremism came about because the Socialist Afghan government promoted atheism. Its not as if that justifies the shoddy treatment of their women and other associated social oppressions.

I would dispute that Islamic extremism came about because of any communist sphere of influence, if you listen to what Islamists say they will cite the events in Palestine as their number one source of animosity.

I could also put it to you that if NATO hadnt aggressively sought spheres of dominance in Turkey, Germany and Japan then the Soviet Union wouldnt have sought the need to expand its influence.

No doubt but its not as if the west has any difficulites in appeasing people like that.

The only reason hacks get infuriated is because that footage came from Iran. As long as it comes from Saudi, Bahrain, the UAE or the ranks of the Free Syrian Army who cares, right?

I sure the hell dont support that crap some Islamic Communities tried to Establish Sharia Law in the states and it was over turned thank goodness. I wouldnt want to see women lashed to death over simply showing her arm or face or hair.

My point is the people who are distributing that footage dont want you to get upset at the womens suffering, they want you to get upset at the fact that the perpetrators are Iranian.

Exactly the same sort of stuff goes on in countries that are allied or sympathetic to the USA but i dont see anyone beating the war drums against them.

Actually, compared to Iran, both Bahrain, UAE, and Kuwait aren't that bad of at the gender inequality index. Jordan has managed to create a cult of persona around Queen Rania. In Qatar, women have it far worse, but at least the government there does not torture or execute women. Saudi-Arabia and the US aren't allies per se, but do trading together.

The USSR took what wasn't theirs by force. Germany and Turkey are members of NATO by their own free will; Japan is not a member, but is still an ally. If you take Stalin's view of women into consideration, you'd see that he and the Ayatollah would agree on a lot.

Afghanistan became an ally of the Soviet Union under Mohammed Najibullah. They did nothing more than what NATO did, whenever the South Vietnamese were in trouble.
