I read that in Britian there are many who are acquianted with the dark arts and/or Satanism. I've heard that as many as 12% of the population is so. Not to be confused with Wicca, I think maybe the Druids are a little different. They are trying to recreate a "nostalgia" through rampant drugs and orgies on equinox nights, creating devastation and a mental miasma to those they recruit.

Compromise with great resentment
will surely yield lingering resentment;
How can this be seen as good?

For this reason,
The sage holds the debtor's side of a contract
and does not make claims upon others.

Therefore,
The man of integrity attends to his debts;
The man without integrity attends to his exactions.

The Way of heaven is impartial,
yet is always with the good person.

Sounds like Grudem to an extant, what did Taoists know about YHWH?

Thanks for the quote parakeet.

I don't think Taoist knew much to anything about Jewish folklore. One, it predates it, and two, completely different regions.

Lao-tzu was born around circa 604 B.C.

Yet the Dao has never not existed.

Understanding others is knowledge,
Understanding oneself is enlightenment;
Conquering others is power,
Conquering oneself is strength;
Contentment is wealth,
Forceful conduct is willfulness;
Not losing one's rightful place is to endure,
To die but not be forgotten is longevity.

I asked the boy beneath the pines.
He said, “The master’s gone alone
Herb-picking somewhere on the mount,
Cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown.”

Averick, you don't seem to have a very high opinion of the UK,

Im not sure what you mean about satanism and orgies etc.
I'll try to put the record straight
when christianity came to my country it brought with it ideas about the devil and satan,
these ideas came to be confused with lucifer who is said by some to be the ruler of the underworld, that's where we get the image of the stereotypical horned devil from,
but our pagan tradition is one of nature, light and wisdom which predates christianity by a long shot

people have been taking psychoactive substances and dancing all night all over the world for millenia, call it shamanism or whatever you like but it happens here too. You cant beat getting out into the sticks and dancing to some good music with some good people and if you use mind altering substances to enhance your perception of reality you feel part of something much broader and deeper, like the Earth.

Looked at but cannot be seen - it is beneath form;
Listened to but cannot be heard - it is beneath sound;
Held but cannot be touched - it is beneath feeling;
These depthless things evade definition,
And blend into a single mystery.

In its rising there is no light,
In its falling there is no darkness,
A continuous thread beyond description,
Lining what can not occur;
Its form formless,
Its image nothing,
Its name silence;
Follow it, it has no back,
Meet it, it has no face.

Attend the present to deal with the past;
Thus you grasp the continuity of the Way,
Which is its essence.

To Nory,
you mentioned the book "the holy longing" and also you mentioned organizations picking up the pieces of people damaged by bad religious experiences. I count myself among their number, I got caught up in a cult style drug rehabilitation program a few years ago and am pretty messed up now. Could you give more details about the book and the organizations please. The Dao is the first thing I've found since that doesn't hurt me more. Lao Tzu was a sound human being.

Pixel8, I love and adore the UK. Some of my favourite people live there. I didn't know what to write about when you wrote this.. Sorry to interject my opinion, it was idiotic and uncalled for. I just remember this story about lonely brits trying to find social adhesive through drugs and cultism. Don't take me the wrong way, but I enjoy occultism and the drug culture. Makes me a little jealous I don't live in the UK. Just be thankful I am stuck here in the colonies; I'm sure the UK doesn't want a Charles Manson or Timothy Leary character mucking things up there!!

To: Pixel8, I’m so glad the book is ok and your doing alright. I haven’t read the online ones so I can’t wholly vouch for them though, but others seem to have found them a good resource.

To both: It’s funny how misunderstandings can arise from the stark uncompromising form of just text messages – I think because the human dimension is removed, so tone of voice, expression etc… is removed and the littlest things can be interpreted the wrong way.

I come from Canada and we’re used to everyone thinking very little of us, like were the developmentally delayed version of the US for instance. I hope there are no Canadians reading this! We’ve developed a very self-depreciating streak.

Also ancestrally I’m from (very rebellious and un-nationalistic) German and (far removed) Japanese ancestors so I don’t understand the feeling of Nationalism and have to admit that when I did go to Germany I got in trouble for making some offhanded observations about the place or what I saw that were taken very seriously by my relatives there.

Here is my new Tao, done in a sleepless hour last night. I hope you are both offended:

THE TAO OF BJORK

your phone is off the hook
all is full of love
your doors are all shut
all is full of love!

• (all is full of love)

If you ever get close to a human
And human behavior
Be ready, be ready to get confused

- (Human behavior)

I'm a whisper in water
Secret for you to hear
You are the one who grows distant
When I beckon you near

- (bachelorette)

How do I master
The perfect day
Six glasses of water
Seven phonecalls

- (its not up to you)

all the modern things
like cars and such
have always existed

- (modern things)

I’ve seen it all, I have seen the dark
I’ve seen the brightness
In one little spark

- (I’ve seen it all)

The triumph of a heart forgives us!

I miss you, but I haven't met you yet.
So special, but it hasn't happened yet.

And if you believe in dreams, what is more important?
That dreams can come true: I will meet you!!

To nory: You didn't know this, but I am a huge fan of Bjork! :wink:
