simple internet research shows other wise.
I hope you understand medical stuff better than taxes and percentages
I feel the love and your right, you had zero effect on me or my family. My father died 10 years ago yesterday, my former positive opinion of medical professionals took a major dive because of the treatment he recieved during his long illness.
or have lower morals and will do anything for a buck.
that's nice
if they want to eat, they should go bust their butts insted of being mooches.
I agree with you - but do you agree with you? The Democrats have been the most consistent advocates of a progressive income tax, where people on the bottom pay a smaller percent. While the Republicans pose as being anti-tax, the net effect of their policies has been to shift the burden away from the people at the top towards the middle. Obviously a person making $20 and hour shouldn't be taxed at half. According to the Republicans, a person making $20,000 an hour should not be taxed at 50% - the top rate is 35%, and Republicans are trying to lower that. Interest on dividends for people living off of trust funds is only 15%.
Make me president and I will lower your taxes even further. Course, the debt will skyrocket and the dollar will sink like a rock.
you've watched to many episodes of MASH.
It's a tough field, though. I don't think you could handle it, really. You're too selfish. We made welfare for people like you, and now we're trying to figure out how to make a pill to make you LESS like you.
I hope you understand medical stuff better than taxes and percentages

The thing is, though, Johnnie, you're not doing your point any good by attacking me. Besides, the conservatives have supported limited welfare since Reagan's time. They called it a "safety net." Ronald Reagan would call me a conservative, though, because the reforms I'm talking about would put on people an IMPETUS to get OFF of the welfare system and back into work. I'm talking about using the welfare state as purely a rehabilitative system by which to get people BACK into the workforce.
You got me, pilgrim? My views on this subject are more "conservative" than those of the a**holes you've been voting for over the past several years. There is no such thing as a conservative Republican anymore. They all piled onto Ronald Reagan's bandwagon. Dude, conservatism is DEAD. Get used to it.
If I were running for political office, the only things that would distinguish me from moderate conservatives, by AMERICAN standards, would be those things that stem directly from the fact that I am an atheist and a queer.
Besides that, you're blasting ad hominem at the wrong guy. You should be BEGGING me to run for congress in your state. I'd advocate cutting military spending in HALF. The EU is a grown boy now. They can take care of their own problems, and THEY can start taking some of the heat from dumbasses like Mahmoud. It's THEIR turn to be the bad guy.
THAT is a cut that would go straight into your pockets! You hear that? STRAIGHT into your pockets.

The people at the bottom don't pay less when the people at the top pass down the tax to the people at the bottom.
There is no party for the working class. The dems are for the mooches and victims of their own dysfunction and for a bigger nanny state. So either join the bums or join the victims advocates and get a government job or become a republican. My friend Griff is going to jump on the suffering bandwagon and suck off medicare dollars in a tax exempt industry.
On average the national debt and budget deficits are no higher today as a percentage of GDP compared to most years in the past, so the real cause of the falling dollar is the trade deficit which is the fault of the american people, each and everyone of them does their little part to screw themselves.
After people do something for years, they will never admit they where wrong and look for something elese to blame for the problem because they know it all.Decades of trade deficits have caught up to the USA which ran out of blue collar workers to sell out to keep down inflation and can't import the problem away anymore.
Nobody can keep passing out IOU's forever before the IOU's become nearly worthless and end up being devalued. We either make something to give them for the IOU or sell them a piece of the country, whether it be real estate or a company, they don't seem interested in either considering the country is a bad place to do business because of the taxes and high cost of living which equals high wages or do they want grossly over valued real estate.
Griff
Have I personally insulted you or just said your way of thinking differs from mine ? Now you seem to have no problem throwing personal insults my way, but considering I've been called a truck driver and survived it, I'll live if you call me something.
I'm happy you can take out your fustration on me, everyone needs to have a way to let it out. Not good to hold it in.

You mean compared to the end of Reagan's presidency when the federal deficit began expanding again, and also the presidency where the trade deficit really took off. Look, it is really basic macroeconomics: Y = C + I + G + NX, We assume that Y is constant, that I is exogenous, and that C and G are both impacted by deficits. If C and/or G increase due to deficits, but Y is constant and I is unaffected, then what happens to the equation? NX(net exports) goes down, which leads to a trade deficit. Exports aren't some moral play where we have the virtues of the consumer vs the evils of the market. Exports are a play of various economic policies that impact the value of the currency relative to other currencies. Federal deficits cause trade deficits, and the rise of the deficit under Reagan actually provides a textbook case of this, seriously, I once read it in a textbook written by a conservative economist(Greg Mankiw, in case you were curious). Another part of this, that may relate to the historicity is the fact that in large or growing national deficits in other nations were more common earlier and that relative fiscal policy is the issue of import.

Look at what they blame for this: "The trade deficits are sustained by government policies, both U.S. government tax policies and foreign government mercantilist policies, not by the free play of market forces."
One of the 2 major reasons they listed was fiscal policies, and the other was on the trade policies of other nations which probably interacted with the first reason. They claim that it was NOT the free play of market forces though, unlike what you believed it was Johnnie.
I have heard that some would argue that the trade deficit was not the work of the federal deficit, but if that isn't so, then the other argument I can think of is that the US is a better place to invest than the rest of the world. The reason I'd say that is because the trade deficit is basically equal to foreign investment, so if our dollars are valuable for investment purposes, then people will buy our dollars in order to invest. I still don't see a powerful moral play.
Johnnie, you have attacked me, you have attacked my family, you have attacked what you have assumed to be my political affilitation, you have attacked my chosen profession, and you have behaved as unpleasantly as I have ever seen a person behave. Whether you have Asperger Syndrome or not, you will be alone for the rest of your life as long as you have such a nasty attitude toward other people. I don't know what your social life is like, but, if you have any friends at all, I don't know how they put up with you and your negativity.
You're not even a conservative. You are a populist. Populists are vermin, whether they associate themselves with the Left or the Right.
Forget what I'm doing with MY life, Johnnie. Attacking my social position is the most pathetic ad hominem I've ever seen. Besides, anyone can do what I'm doing. Some of the girls in my lab have never even heard of student loans, and they're working full time jobs ON TOP of being pre-meds. They're in the same jobs that they got when they were teenagers, pulling it on their own. You know what their political affiliation is? NOTHING!! !! !! They don't have enough time on their hands to think or talk about POLITICS, dude! They don't have time to think about religion, either. What, you think a college student is going to work a Nine to Five day job? HAH! When I asked them, "who ya gonna vote for?" They didn't even know who was running! THOSE are the people that YOU are going to see driving around in BMWs, and they will be laughing at you! I'm not going to be able to afford it, man. I'll be too busy paying off my student loans and choking on the ramen noodles I eat because I'm too massively in debt to afford anything else. I won't care, though, because I'm not going into the medical field in the name of money. I'm doing it for job satisfaction. If I wanted money, I'd be working at Del Labs, where there's room for advancement. You can take the skills you get there and go anywhere, and you can make pretty good money at it. You don't even need a high school diploma for it, and, just for stress, there is AMPLE room for advancement. I could have been working behind a desk, living in suburban home, within fifteen years. That's just not what I'm driven to do. I've done that kind of work, and it's just not mentally challenging enough to be satisfying.
Oh, but enough about me. Enough about you. WHERE ARE YOUR ARGUMENTS!! !!? If you had any, I lost them in all this ad hominem and negativity.
under Reagan we had WW2 people retiring, the slaughter of the working class because of volcker so it's likely tax revenue would dive as government costs rose and the coming of age of the baby boomer who could give a crap about anything but themselves and if a Honda made them look hip, they didn't care abput buying american anything.
washingtons policies and foriegn countries policies have nothing to do with america citizens choosing chicom crap off the shelf, buying fuel hog cars & homes or imported cars
You now come across as the type who believes the whole world is out to get you. If you think somebody saying you come from a family with money as an attack you really have gotten way to defensive.
I ran across people in trucking who would come unglued if anyone said anything negitive about trucking. even if 100% true and they where too lame to see the people saying it weren't attacking them personally, just stating the obvious.
no I read your posts and you told me what it is. it's not likely something shows up on my monitor posted by Griff that you didn't post.
You should stay out of political forums if you can't take people having different opinions than you do.
Under Reagan we had tax cuts and the increase in government expenditures. Frankly, consumers are SUPPOSED TO buy the products that they like. The ENTIRE REASON for the economy is for people to buy the crap that they like.
No, they do. Do you think that Americans would buy these things in the same quantity if they were more expensive? No, they wouldn't. The fact of the matter is that a trade deficit does not depend on just the consumption habits of one country but rather has to do with the interactions of our nation with other nations. We can easily buy their stuff, but for the trade deficit to occur, a lot of other countries have to choose not to spend our money.
You now come across as the type who believes the whole world is out to get you.
By contrast, I find AG to be an intolerable prat, even though I very RARELY disagree with his actual views. Why? SIMPLE! He's got a really big ego!! !
No, Johnnie, it's you. You're a forum troll, whether you realize it or not.

If they like destroying their own economy, I guess they are getting what they like.
you fit that profile to a tee
The purpose of the economy is so that they can do this. As your link also states in an earlier part of it: "The trade deficits are sustained by government policies,
both US government tax policies and foreign government mercantilist
policies, not by the free play of market forces."
