Do you realize that Fnord pointed out in another post that according to the Holy Bible the ration of the circumfrence of a circular object to its diameter is 3.0 instead of pi??? That has been shown to be mathematically FALSE! So I guess the bible actually IS NOT inerrant after all . The bible says there are no atheists, and yet there Are! Sure christians say they *know* God exists, but HOW do You know that they're being totally honest and not Lying??? Furthermore, I'd like to know just exactly where the bible even talks about the actual worship of Satan....:? But dont you see my point? Fundamentalist Christianity is Not consistent! That is what makes the whole premise of this thread totally absurd! Mad

Yes, I know that, it can be argued that the book was being less than literal there, and the 30 cubits was actually 31.4 so on cubits, it could be argued that there was a width to the thing being bent, and thus there was something close to 1.4 cubits found in this width and that was not accounted for in the account. So on and so forth, therefore one can just wiggle past the claim by jumping around because the text was not a mathematical one.

Umm.... like *I* said, there are some apologetic ideas based upon the notion that all atheists are liars about their atheism, such as presuppositional apologetics. The bible doesn't say that there aren't people who say "there is no god", it calls those people fools, and it addresses those people in Romans 1, but what the Bible says, is that these people are not consistent to what they know to be true.

You don't, and you can hold to a supposition that claims that they aren't honest quite easily, like bringing up issues of obvious moral laxity and the concept of revealed preferences. The issue isn't what is true, but rather what is consistent to the suppositions.

As for talk of the worship of Satan, it could be argued that the contrast of children of God vs children of Satan would work somewhat: 1Jn 3:10, and the fact that the devil is called the God of this world in 2 Cor 4:4 could be used towards that. Not only that, but also people can be taken as servants to money and things like that, and satanism could be taken as a servitude to Satan, who is lord over all that is evil.

As for your last point... perhaps it isn't consistent to the totality of the text, it is a rather large text, but is it necessarily inconsistent on this specific point? Even if the theology as a whole is bad/flawed/etc, it still can hold to a certain interpretation of a text and be consistent to it.

The reason the name of the Abrahamic god is unknown is because the local pagan gods the concept of this god grew out of could be controlled by invoking their names loudly in huge public ceremonies. That's why Moses got the answer 'Yahweh' (more or less "I am what I am") when he asked for God's real name.

The prior influence is obvious; please nobody try to pretend that his religion formed in a vacuum.

well, from a christian point of view, if you are not with God, you are against God, you would be serving Satan's purposes even if you don't believe in him.

It's from the movie "The Usual Suspects", but I'm not sure if that's the original source.

By rejecting God. No middle ground.

Yes, so Gandhi was a Satanist, since as a Hindu he did not believe in the one God.

Which in turn means that the Reverend Martin Luther King drew upon satanic influences when drafting his non-violent protest ideas in the 1960s.

Or your statement could just mean that you're trying to be God by arbitrarily saying that X gets to go to heaven while Y suffers eternal punishment. That's why Satan fell... he tried to be God.

Did Jesus not say "Judge not, lest you be judged"? (Matt. 7:1)

yeah, i saw that part but figured it'd be from somewhere else considering how frequently it's quoted by people who generally tend to be against sinful hollywood.

Ok.

Well, one could argue that, however, I think it is more common to say that people can be servants of the devil, but many of their creations can be reflections of the fact that they are image bearers of God, or that these creations are good/neutral because evil cannot create.

Why does my statement mean that I am trying to be God? Jesus also said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."(Joh 14:6) and "Whoever is not with me is against me," (Mat 12:30), which could be argued as the source of bad American foreign policy? Not only that, but.... um... I am not saying who gets to go to heaven or hell, I am an atheist, and atheists, while being able to appreciate Christian theological debates, usually do not believe in the things they might argue when involved in them.

Sorry about the confusion there... One of my pet peeves is when men try to turn Heaven into a "club"... while I'm pretty sure that it's not...

Yes, Jesus is the one whom you must go through. But as all humanity is made in God's image, I believe that everyone will be saved. If God is able to forgive David for his adultery with Bathsheba, or Peter for explicitly denying Jesus 3 times, I think God has a place for everyone...

It's not so much the person that is evil, but the acts that they commit that can be.

So atheists are chameleons. If you put them in a vat of Satanists, they become Satanists. I think I finally understand this argument!

When people say they believe in God..

What does “believing in God” actually mean?

Obviously it means different things to different people.
I don't believe in somebody elses god and, i don't expect them to believe in mine.
The difference between my god and most is that my god is demonstrably experiencible
by anybody willing to do the work and their god is merely a political hack cross between y'shua
and dionYSIUS.

Quote:
"God" is a cultural and paradigmal convention which means the given end goal or highest single entity on a pyramidal or hierarchal order scheme. God is just a symbol. Reified. What exists is all
that is+ and its quantum information, and your brodmann brain areas and senses which are subliminal until you achieve a waking theta condition.

Quote:
--------
/An Atheist/ there is no such thing. There are several different phenomenon which we collectively call atheist. Some of those phenomenon beleive some things and some of them
are wise enough to have zero belief at all. The ones who actually leave the paradigm don't argue
against the darkness; they light their own candle.

Quote:

I'm caught in the middle. To me there is no argument.
I can integrate all of science and logic and all of religion. Not just christianity; and not excluding it either. And for each of these paradigms I can see good things and bad things, trash, and gems.

I would collect the pearls. The swine of their own paradigms trample them under.

To the atheists; i can say honestly; I am one of you. I refuse to believe in anything.
Only direct experience which can reproduced has value. All else is potentially illusion.
And so then i would challenge them to obtain a waking theta state; so we can get back to
the adult level of talking about what really exists rather than pitting our projections into battle with somebody elses paradigm hang ups.

to the Christians; I can honestly say, I know the bible and christianity and I walk with christ
and God in a deep and personal way. I have studied the bible intimately, and scoured it for the gems that it has to offer, and i have done esoteric research to put esoteric contexts back into
the mix and work with my understanding to surpass all mistranslations and entropy. I am a fan and student of the talmud, the torah, the tanakh, the mishna, and the qaballah. I know my christianity. I know the essenes and the gnostics and i know christian world history.

do they?

I can talk to god. And yet their god does not exist. My god does exist but its a god i must provide caveats for. My god is no more omnipotent than I am. In fact, my god has no will and no mind. It has no consciousness of me at all until i reach into it and touch it. It can't see me any better than i can see an atom. It doesn't care whether or not i exist and it mostly is asleep and assumes i don't.
My god is so vast and impersonal because it is what is out there; the infinite pool of quantum information and my ability to interact with it because i'm the observer making those observations.

My god is orders of magnitude larger than they have imagined; and my god can be described via formal math and peered at via atomic physics and the implicate orders of the universe.

And i can enter into a waking theta condition, step into the merkabah bubble, inflate the adam kadmon body, travel up the tree, and step into the presence of and thus awaken my god;
and via that connection and because of me; i empower god to even know earth as a tiny little ball of dust even exists.
My god is not omnipotent, but bound by and as by being the actual laws of physics; the scalar frcatal equation that binds the universe together and defines its forms and functions.

I have met and I have talked with that god. And it doesn't bother me in the slightest to admit that its probably all just a hallucination. Because the point of spirituality is to make the connection inward and overcome the shadow and the darkness within to do good in the world;
not find something outside of yourself to worship.

Before enlightenment; chop wood carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood carry water.

according to the Bible (Romans 1:20) there is only the law of God or the law of sin, Romans 7, so on and so forth. If these verses are true then atheists must be satanists, if I am a Christian then those verses are true, therefore Christians are internally consistent when saying that atheists are satanists. Now, does it matter if Christianity is correct for this argument? No, because that is a separate issue, it only needs to be seen that the Christian is potentially internally consistent(we hold theology relatively constant), not that he/she is correct.

So christianity is based on the suppositions that:God Exists,Satan Exists, & the existence of God is blatantly obvious as claimed by the bible and that these suppositions are true. DITTO for satanism, the difference between the two being that satanists embrace the law of sin and christians embrace the law of God. Atheism however, does NOT accept these suppositions are true.
According to atheism, the supposition that there is only the low of god or the law of sin is FALSE. Yet satanism supposes it to be true! If you try to equate atheism and satanism than you get a CONTRADICTION: *there is only the law of god and the low of sin And there is neither*. That means that atheism and satanism are Not consistent, EVEN In the framework of the christian worldview!

Yes, because Cthulhu is just an atheist's Satan. Lovecraft didn't want Christian mythology as the backdrop for his horror stories, so he invented his own secular devil.
