Christians do not believe Mormonism is Christian because they added books to the Bible and they do not believe in the same central doctrine. It wouldn't matter if the practices are similar. Otherwise Christianity would call themselves Jewish.

In general I agree with the concept that Christianity began existing withing a time frame of Jesus's birth. I disagreed with limiting it to a specific time because there were more factors involved that his birth and it is more appropriate to limit it to a time range and not a specific date/year. Since I personally think that the birth of Christianity occurred withing a 3 year range associated with the beginning of Jesus's teachings and his death, not with his birth (as 30+ years past without contribution to the concept of Christianity before the foundations began to be built).

I write religion, there is nothing wrong with religion.

One cannot remove religion from Existence, one can only learn to live with it.

However, one can learn to devote themselves to a level of religion, that is far beyond anything currently created, on this rather most, primitive of worlds.

One simply, has to sit down, think about it, and actually get to work.

One cannot remove religion from the experience of being human. Therefore, one has two choices: ignore the current failed state of human religion; or create religion worthy of the gift of Existence...

I guess the only third option, is to shut up, and stop your whinging about the current state of human religion, and leave creating religion, that is actually worthy of the gift of Existence, to those that have the ability.

And when such a religion comes along, created by those gifted in creating religion, make sure you actually understand, what it is your whitnessing.

I agree with everything you've said about free will but didn't have the eloquence to express myself.

Yes, but my original point (as you yourself pointed out) was not about whether or not people consider it the same religion or not. My point was that religious ideas and practices have been passed down from one generation to the next irrespective of whatever bickering people do over the terminology.

If my father rode around on a horse for his whole life and then in my twenties I suddenly say "this is not a horse, this is a gazebo!" and I spent my entire life preaching the wisdom of the gazebo, and thousands of people get behind me and support this new idea about the gazebo... that doesn't actually make it something other than what it was when my father was calling it a horse or change its history to give it some new origin either. It's still the same thing, it's only been renamed, regardless of how many people might refute that.

Most of the central doctrine of Mormonism is still the same though. They did make some additions to it, but the religion wasn't invented from scratch. In fact Smith was pretty smart about it when he started writing, because he found a "loophole" in the King James bible to insinuate the new religion into. Hence the reason why Mormons call themselves Christian even though other Christian religions don't.

If your religion succeeds, I will give you your props. Until then it's just pie-in-the-skying and blatant self-aggrandization. Who do you think you are? L. Ron Hubbard?

No, of course, of all things, that is certainly, one thing, I do not ever think I am.

l.ron.hubbard, was one of the greatest abusers of the power to create religion in the Universe, that ever existed, in human history. His very Existence, was an insult to Life, it's self...

I write religion, I myself, as a human being, as an individual, truely do not matter. There is no aggrandizment, there is no self indulgence, there is no hope for me for money or power, to be made out of the religion I write, therefore, one would assume, that would give the religion I write, even more credability. There is little hope for me to be powerful, or rich, from my ability to explain to you exactly how to attain true enlightenment, or to explain to you the true reality of God, as it actually exists to human beings.

I shall give to you all that I know about religion for free.

That is the difference between, me and l.ron.hubbard.

I will explain to you quite freely, how to truely attain enlightenment, and the reality of religion.

Religion does not need to be as insane, as it normally is, on Earth. Most human beings have just become so accustomed, to the insane nature of most religion written.

Of course, what happens, when a man writes religion, that is sane, that is enlightened, that is actually worth believing in.

Would you be able to recognize it?

The only price, is a degree of respect, for the value of such priceless, information.

One does not need to be delusional to write religion, one can be quite skeptical, objective, scientific, and most disciplined of mind. One can be more than sound of mind to write religion, and one can be as equally objective, and scientific, in writing religion, as one can be perfectly open minded...

I find it most terribly amusing that human beings have cried proverbial wolf, in relation to attaining enlightenment, and in relation to what the true nature of God actually is, in relation to the human sphere of Existence, that if a man truely stood before you and explained the true realites, of these things, whether you, the readers of Wrong Planet, or for that matter, the readers on any forum, public, or private, would recognize the truth, for what it is.

Thanks SM... I'm still not entirely happy with it... or I should say, I still have anxiety about what I've written about it here... along with everything else I've posted in this thread. :? So I really appreciate the complement. :)

Trascention: don't promise things you can't deliver.

I already have a saviour.

I can easily deliver, you have but to ask the right question.

Something, easier said, than done.

I ask for no money, nor power, of those that ask me the right questions, but I do insist, that one is held to a certain perfectionist, level of standards, before I answer a person, in relation to the more profound, and interesting questions, human beings have about Existence.

Right now, you are falling below that level of standards, which is a shame because we have spoken about such things in the past.

For me, it is all to easy to deliver, answers to these questions, but I imagine it is far harder for you to ask me the right questions, or give me enlightened knowledge, of equal value.

I only hope that your savior, is none other than yourself.

Only you can truely save you, from the infinite complexity of the entire of Existence, surely?

Who is this saviour you speak of?

As a lowly human being, who seems to be a true and benevolent, objective, skeptical, while keeping a near perfectly open mind about the entire nature of reality, I must know this particular, saviors name.

Maybe she, or he, has something they can teach me?

Surely, this savior and I, would have a most terribly, interesting conversation.

He and the guy who started Raelism seem to have been the exceptional instances of someone creating an entirely new religion with almost no roots in previous religions... and in both cases, they used aliens as the plot device... hmmm... ;) Granted, not that those have been the only UFO groups by any stretch of the imagination. A couple of the biggest though.

Don't ever try this line on a Christian. Ever.

And don't insult my intelligence.

You are not really as original as you think you are.

Oh I wouldn't claim to be anything, not even original, a great deal of my thought, in one way or another, is absorbed, and synthesised, from the entirety, of the current state of human information, about Existence.

In all seriousness, are you a christian slowmutant? I never would have guessed?

In Universalism, I have no knowledge, of any intelligences, outside of the human species.

Of course, scientifically speaking, one would assume, that in a Universe, as extremily, almost incomprehensibly, immense, as the one we exist in; then there would be intelligent Life, beyond the human species.

Of course, that is purely hypothetical, at this point in spacetime, of the human species.

The raeliens, are an even worse joke, as a religion, perpertuated against, the human species, by a most enigmatic God, as scientology, christianity, or mormonism, is.

Whatever mysterious force, if any, that governs Existence, seems to have quite the sense of humour.

Well as always, so long, and thanks for the inspiration. I am sure what you said slowmutant, very slow, slow mutant, will make terribly interesting new religion, with a little tinkering and editing, pasting and creative licence.

Thankyou, so very much.

Although I would have liked to know who this mysterious saviour is.

hahaha, oh my, then you should answer me, in a useful way.

Or do what most human beings do. Step aside, and leave it to people like me, to fix the currently broken, state of human religion.

Leave it to people, who are actually qualified, to do such a thing.

the horse would be the same as a gazebo provided that you changed nothing but the name. However, if your father rode around on a horse and then part of the way through his life he switched to riding a zebra you could not make the same claim because there is an actual difference to a zebra and a horse.

My point is to recognize the similarities, acknowledge the differences. While your father never changed the principles of riding... he is using an entirely different animal.
