Trump isn't supported by anything like half the country. Realistically he's supported by about 40% of people. He might get extra votes when third-party candidates swing back but he's only got 50% in one head-to-head poll in five months. So half of Trump's support is 20% of the country.
So, only 65 million people? Yeah, I guess that's not so bad after all.
I know, it's a shocking number and a huge challenge for America to overcome. But you overcame the Confederacy so I'm sure you can also win around people who positively support Trump.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the ... -business/Like Trump, Pence has refused to condemn white supremacists. Well, of course not! I mean, a vote from a douche bag is still a vote! I'm sure there are enough KKK members and Nazis to make a difference in the election. Trump has already sewn up the xenophobic/paranoid vote. (And that's a pretty sizable number, given how ill-informed and just downright stupid Americans are.)
Now he's assured all the bed-linen wearing cowards will fall into his camp. It's a very astute political move when you think about it.
I don't think the "violent racist" demographic is large enough to have a significant effect upon the election. I also think more people will be turned off Trump/Pence by these words than will be attracted to them.
