Hmm, let's see... Cain was friends with a woman but didn't tell his wife, and he's been badgered out of the race.
Newt has admitted to cheating on his wife, and the media hasn't thrown half the vitriol at him that they did at Cain, so Newt stays in.

O-kaaaay...

So, what is the standard? If you are friends with someone and don't tell your wife, you're not qualified to be president, but if you actually cheat on your wife sexually, you are qualified? I guess that's it. Cain wasn't immoral enough.

Yeah--why is the Newt suddenly at the top of the Repugnican pack? Plus, he has admitted to apostasy, which should be a killer.

I can only suppose it's because Gingrich's infidelities happened before he ran for president.
For what it's worth, I think Gingrich is a hypocritical pig.

And, Repugnican voters love nothing better than a hypocritical pig.

All Gingrich's baggage is 20 years old, it looks rather ridiculous to be dragging things up like that.

Well, most of Cain's was from the 90's -- and it was only "Cain's baggage" in the sense of that baggage being manufactured with Cain's name on it by notoriously flakey women and the liberal media. Whereas Newt's baggage was genuinely his.

So, why did the liberal media jump all over Cain?

And a black conservative cannot be allowed to campaign against Obama.

Yeah I agree with you, however if Cain can trace this smear campaign back to its source, he's back in and would likely be Gingrich's VP pick.

I mean face it, Gingrich would clobber Biden so badly Obama would be getting sympathy votes, Gingrich needs to be on the top of the ticket.

The tactic Obama will use in debates with Gingrich is focusing on Newt's past political weak points (like the ad he did with Pelosi), and issues of his personal character with regard to the affairs. As per usual for liberals, Obama will dress it up so it doesn't look like a direct personal attack, but rather a "concern" about having such a person in the White House. Of course, I'm sure Gingrich can pull out some personal attacks against Obama's character, but conservatives usually seem to loathe doing that to their opponents. I'm not worried about Newt's strengths as a candidate, but rather his weaknesses -- and liberals can spin almost anything into a weakness because they are better liars than we are, because they get daily practice at it. (Of course, that last advantage of liberal candidates applies to all candidates on our side, whoever they be.)

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ragtime played the Race Card!

Republican voters never watch mainstream media, anyway. What mainstream media has to say is irrelevant to the Repugnican primaries. All that matters is what Fox Noise and Hate Radio have to say.

Hmmm, and Obama got elected. Curious that. If, as you say, all conservative news outlets are right-wing, and all Republicans adopt the views of these outlets, then obviously all Republicans voted against Obama. And yet, I'm told he won by 7%. This while more people in the U.S. by a margin of 2-to-1 identify as conservatives than as liberals.

I can't believe that you, of all people, pandabear, would tell a lie.

:P

It may be related to truth. The percentage of males that cheat on their wives is huge, so no one would be very shocked and it says little about his ability to govern. But his total inability of handling the accusations and actually admiting the affairs once there was strong evidence for it show that this guy has no "warrior spirit" like ruveyn would say.

Also, I am going to make the call that there is a good reason he gave up the race. If the accusations were truly fabricated then they would have only made him stronger in the race (Similar to Obama and birthers, birthers eventually became a force to remind us that Obama's opposition is full of idiots). However, he gave up. Either he is a coward to have his life get into the sort of exposure that is required for a president or he really did cheat on his wife and knows that it would destroy his race after the attitude he took during the accusations.
