Patriarchy is the state of being grasped by a powerful man.
But some people like it like that, and who am I to judge? I mean, who made me God?
What about people who want out of that grasp, but can't escape it? What if you want out of it yourself?
Not every power imbalance in the world happens by consent and people who don't like the state of affairs shouldn't be denied a voice just because some people love the way things are. Neglecting to critique power structures is wrong whilst there's still no reasonable alternative to them for a lot of people. I'm thinking about things like religion and gender roles (which come with patriarchy,) some people love these things but that doesn't negate the fact that they make life sh***y for many.
I try to always do three things, no four things: let people self-identify, listen, try to understand any person or group or philosophy's point of view, and exercise compassion as best as I can.
I'd rather patriarchy be less of an assumed normal state of being, but on the other hand I'd also like a few more matriarchies. On the gripping hand, I do actually work to provide help for battered women, and, in other ways, for outspoken intersectional feminist women.
I feel ashamed of ever pressuring a woman to have sex, even just by being a pest. I try to atone. I don't want to use my Autism as any excuse, but I did miss some social cues from time to time, and I tended to insist on getting my way.
I'm a boy cat, in case I've left anyone in doubt. I don't mind people mistaking me for a girl cat, although I do resent that they picked that up from my stance against sexism.
I think we can all agree that cruelty to animals is wrong, even to mouses.
