Oh, you haven't heard of F**k or Walk®? Then, I'll tell you, but first you should have a trigger warning: rape.

I called it a game, but that's only under a patriarchy. I'd actually call it date rape.

I heard this old, old song done by the band Parliament, on one of their early albums. It went something like:

Quote:
♪♫
You don't have to walk home my dear,
You don't have to walk home my dear,
You be good to me, and I'll be good to you,
and we'll both ride home in my automobile.
♪♫

Get the picture now?

I heard it as "For ass, grass or gas,no free ride."

That commercial was just crazy! No wonder so many guys who went to my high school were so into those muscle cars!

This is different, though. I'll explain F**k or Walk® a little further. As explained to me by a friend who was talking about his high school experience in the 70s, the "game" consisted of asking a girl out on a date, and mind you, you had to select the girl carefully. You want to choose a girl who has a bit of a reputation, if you know what I mean. So, you casually ask the slut, I mean girl out. If she says yes, you go for a drive in your automobile. You drive to a secluded spot, and at that time you let her know that she is playing the "game.;" also, that she has just lost.

What you said, Misslizard, was a consensual exchange of goods or services, and belongs in the Why is Prostitution Illegal thread in the Adult Section.

Also, come to think of it, if one of my posts belongs in there, could a moderator move the offending post to a new thread in that section?

What about people who want out of that grasp, but can't escape it? What if you want out of it yourself?

Not every power imbalance in the world happens by consent and people who don't like the state of affairs shouldn't be denied a voice just because some people love the way things are. Neglecting to critique power structures is wrong whilst there's still no reasonable alternative to them for a lot of people. I'm thinking about things like religion and gender roles (which come with patriarchy,) some people love these things but that doesn't negate the fact that they make life sh***y for many.

One time a guy tried to pull me into his car. It was late and I was walking by a secluded intersection. All I did was give him a dirty look and told him to get his effing hand off me. He grabbed my arm and was trying to get me to go with him and when I told him that my eyes changed and he looked freaked out, like he saw a demon, got in his car and hauled ass. He was waiting for me in this place on the side of the road. He had already passed, asked me if I wanted a ride I told him no. He parked his car, got out, grabbed my arm, told me I was going with him. No. I don't think so.

He had one of those old muscle cars and it needed painting. Some pock marked guy with jet black hair.

I try to always do three things, no four things: let people self-identify, listen, try to understand any person or group or philosophy's point of view, and exercise compassion as best as I can.

I'd rather patriarchy be less of an assumed normal state of being, but on the other hand I'd also like a few more matriarchies. On the gripping hand, I do actually work to provide help for battered women, and, in other ways, for outspoken intersectional feminist women.

I feel ashamed of ever pressuring a woman to have sex, even just by being a pest. I try to atone. I don't want to use my Autism as any excuse, but I did miss some social cues from time to time, and I tended to insist on getting my way. :(

I'm a boy cat, in case I've left anyone in doubt. I don't mind people mistaking me for a girl cat, although I do resent that they picked that up from my stance against sexism.

I think we can all agree that cruelty to animals is wrong, even to mouses.

I think you did well to scare him and get away. I feel glad that it worked.

No one's ever tried to pull me into a car, but I've backed more than one over-familiar guy off with my Aspie-stare-of-death.

How Feminism is like fire and can be tackled in the same way. Also covers Facebook's capitulation to Feminist demands for censorship and how O2 and Norton/Symantec block men's movement websites, which they classify as 'hate' sites.
