It's really strange that an omnipotent being who has power over the entire universe would spend his sunday afternoon watching some random Jewish dude having sex?

He is thought to be watching all things at all times. It’s a rather uncomfortable thought to have when one is using the bathroom.

Exactly my point! It's like having somebody spying on you when masturbating to pornhub

The idea is supposed to keep you from engaging in such practices.

Or you will go blind right?

Which reminds me that conjuring magic is considered a "hellworthy" act...abracadabra! christian folks back in 2001 were positing that people who read Harry Potter books would become possessed.

Some Christians have been making similar declarations since before the Renaissance about anything that distracts people from putting money in the collection plate.

Harry Potter was a big no no in my church. Reading Harry Potter books could bring on demons.

It was always entertaining to see where individuals would draw the line. Harry Potter was bad to everyone, but some people (including my family) read Tolkien. I’m not sure why Tolkien was okay but the Harry Potter series wasn’t.

Others (like my aunt) wouldn’t even let their kids watch some Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty.

Your former church was Jehovah's Witness & Watchtower Society, right?

When I know that they are canvassing my neighborhood, I put on my old monk's robe and meet them at the door with my 2nd Edition Dungeon Masters Guide or Players Handbook. You should see them run!

Yep

LOL

Just don’t be mean to them unless it’s an authoritarian-looking, middle-aged dude. Then you can be a little mean. :P

It usually IS an authoritarian-looking, middle-aged dude, with at least one meek-looking and conservatively-dressed young woman and possibly an "All-American" young man in tow. I don't recall ever seeing a group of JW door-knockers led by a woman.

Whenever there’s a male available, he arranges who will go in which car group, gives a brief sermon and prayer, and will decide where they will go. There aren’t always males available midweek because they are usually working a full-time job, so a woman will wear a head covering and pray (but not give a sermon!) and the “sisters” will decide where they want to go together.

Frequently, there are retired men or young men who are still living at home. Parents have been known to encourage the young men not to get full-time jobs right away, so they can help out those “poor sisters” who clearly need a penis to guide them.

One such young man always arranged for me to be put in his car group and go to doors with him. Fun times.

Frequently, two women will go to a door together because there are almost always more women going out midweek than men. There are more women in the religion as a whole, too.

Not sure if this applies to your family but In the United States there was the Salem witch trials where women were accused of being witches and strung up. The particular puritanical vein of christianity which permeated white American christians through the bible belt (and beyond) has some backward beliefs about witchcraft (except for Halloween which in itself is weird and reminds me of the Mexicans "day of the dead"). I think this movement spawned the prohibition of alcohol movement giving rise to gangsterism and alcohol/drug dealing in America.

Or simple answer - Tolkein's realm is based on Scandanavian and Anglo-Saxon myth, whereas Potter stories are closer to witchcraft

You could always point out that the archetypal/stereotypical wizard is based in large parts on jewish stereotypes, and then accuse them of anti-semitism.

If you succeed you would be a levitationist, not a practising levitationist. 8O
Good luck.
Give me pointers if you achieve your goal.

BTW, should I be calling you Hermione Jean Granger?
Your hair colouring is quite similar.

I did a card reading on ol' Trumpo to see just what kind of ruler our American President really is.

He is the King of Clubs, hard work and ambition.

I guess there's no denying that our dictator wannabe really is working his ass off to get exactly what he wants and doesnt care who he crushes to get it, right? ♧ :king:
