I could never be an anarchist. Who knows what I would do without rules. 8O

Anarchists are anarchists because they want to create new rules. Eventually anarchy will lead to a new government and all forms of government lead back to some form of tyranny. Why not just buy a horse and go live in the mountains if you are anti-establishment.

The interactions in society, whatever the form, are extremely complicated and standard societies are formulated so that each person within the society is familiar with the general rules to not cause violent interactions and to smooth standard operations. But within these general rules there are personal individual rules which permit variations and some forms of freedom to put together interactions on the level of personal taste and smaller loci of very small groups directed by religions, ethnic standards, etc.. Theoretically, in an anarchist society, the general rules disappear and the more personal and local rules hold sway. There is probably no way for an individual to be aware of the multitudes of different rule sets in this situation and in all probability it is a scenario for general interpersonal misunderstanding with accompanying high insecurity and recurrent brutal violence.

Basically yes, however, I think most anarchists think that the new social order would have better survivability or functionality of some form.

Living in the mountains sounds like a rather cool idea.

I did live in the mountains. Isolation is not healthy. People do better when they can work together, get along and so forth.

I would like to live in Koro Island Fiji someday. There is a huge artist colony there. Many of them are from the States too. No taxes, free food, sunshine, fresh water, dolphins, rainbows, etc...

Why do eskimos live in the tundra? I don't understand why they don't move or something.

The issue is not whether one has rules. The issue is whether the rules are enforced by a central authority. Humans automatically formulate social rules independent of anarchism.

I suppose there are Eskimos living in all sorts of places but what much of the media shows is that they live at the edge of the sea and sustain themselves with hunting and fishing. It's a tough way to live but their social system is marvelously adapted to the environment. If they moved to New York or LA they probably would go nuts like the present inhabitants there.

And huh, about eskimos, have you seen where they live? It's a vast iced land.... They have hunters who go out and probably fetch whatever game they can, then return back to camp, if technology's not here, you can be sure they need tricks to find their way back (via star maps, etc).

Really?

I think there's a lot of rules I could do without... 8)

Anarchy will never happen, so it doesn't matter if it's a good idea or not. Civilization would fall apart, though.

Of course it would. Most people are barely beyond the stone age in their capacity of thought.

I couldn't fix my own electricity, and that's why we need a strctured society where everyone has their own job based on their own specialty. That requires governing.

Okay....I guess the bronze age is a decent bit. Still a good couple millennia behind what should have been the curve.

/but they make great slaves!
