Watch it buddy! You're hitting pretty close to home now. In the words of a country song: "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was". Or as a friend of mine used to say "The older I get, the better I was".

I'm being nice to myself....really, I'm thinking 27.

"Old" is probably a somewhat unuseful term. I take it I am considered old, but my eyes are wide open and I welcome new understanding and delight in seeing the world change. There are things I miss, like a five cent cup of coffee or ice cream cone and the easy access to raw materials and what might be considered dangerous chemicals for experimentation at reasonable prices. The criteria should be mentally flexible or petrified. I am approaching 84 and find my thoughts more free and open minded than many 18 year olds I have encountered here. Deeply religious people, of course, seem to me to have exceedingly closed minds.

It amuses me when the young ones talk about age like it's a disease they're sure they will never catch. I don't mean just on WP-it's universal and I was probably the same way. :)

We aren't going to define what is male too??

Frankly, I take the stance that grumpy old men are people who I call grumpy old men. Therefore, if I call you a grumpy old man, then you are one, no matter how upbeat, young, and non-male you are.

Which of course, as usual, pumps up your ego to an altitude way beyond your intellect.

Well, my ego likes being up high, so I am just doing all I can to facilitate that. :P

It doesn't help that most religions try to encapsulate the entire universe within mythology mostly written and created in the bronze age with heavy influence from times before it (kinda like how Led Zeppelin kinda wrote their own music but mostly just ripped off the old blues musicians).

It also doesn't help that a big part of most organized religion is a very firm entrenchment in dogma both with flawed morality and questionable mysticism Mysticism in general being very questionable but can sometimes be helpful to help most people comprehend their reality at least a little better and in simpler, shorter terms than the great lengths needed to explain the big bang and evolution.

No, it will eat you. That's what egos do when pricked. Egos are like lions, so you should not threaten the pride. :P

I don't think that we can call AG a grumpy old man, since he is barely out of diapers, but perhaps there isn't that much difference between a grumpy old man and a surly little brat; so maybe we can let him into the club.

I just said that when egos were pricked, they ate you, not that they ate porcupines.

What if i turn into something non-edible? :> Out of an ego trip, would you still try to eat me even if it caused your doom? (most likely!)

How could you change into something non-edible and still be yourself?
