Not to hijack this thread but this is something I've actually been wondering about recently. Why is fascism considered an extreme right philosophy? The way I understand it, it seems a lot closer to the extreme left. Maybe I have too modern and American view of what "the right" is.

Not sure, I think it has to do with the style of government rule. Historically, there have been a lot of despots, so that would be considered a conservative government style since it's been tried more often. Something completely new and out-of-the-blue, like communism, would be considered more liberal since it's a new style.

There are a ton of us that could only be called fiscal conservatives.

As far as social issues go, my portion of Canadian society believes strongly in minding their own business and to live and let live. These are very much conservative values from a time when the ethnic groups here were persecuted. That someone is gay or brown doesnt matter. What matters that they are also quiet, hard working and accepting of others.

Fascists promoted an extreme sense of nationalism.

America's Right Wing also promotes a high level of nationalism.

Fascists were anti-Gay and anti-Minority. America's Republican Party is anti-Gay, and anti-Minority.

Take America's Right Wing to its extreme, and you have fascism.

The left does of course have its own venues from which they spread their own sort of fascism, one of which is called the "Canadian Human Rights Council" or CHRC for short, where people are convicted for mindcrimes. Although inherent to the right wing, to the left is flirting with it, too.

Isn't statism a fundamental part of fascism? That's completely contradictory to the right in America in my opinion who preach(what they actually do in Washington is another thing :roll:

Our society is generally more left-wing than right-wing, and the Internet tends to be populated by young people who are more likely to be left-wing. Plus there are people from all countries here and most countries are more left-wing than the USA. There's not much you can do about it besides moving to a forum specifically for people with your views.

@ the op what a load of crap. The make up of ppr goes from borderline fascist to marxist, creationist to absolute atheist etc . What you will find is that if a question is banal, ill conceived, stupid etc it will either receive no replies or vitriol.

So stop your sooking and post something that is worthy of thought from a very diverse group of people.
