ssooooooo, having spent all that time stating that by being racist you were simply acting in accordance with human nature you now say that this can't be proven? ok, if you say so.
I don't have to disprove anything, once again I'm repeating myself, you do not offer any evidence to support the hypothesis that racism has a genetic basis therefore I have nothing to disprove.

If I seem exasperated it is simply born out of trying to debate with an illogical individual with a one track mind.

so far this has gone

ascan: racism is natural, science shows this
titus: no its not, it is an ideology
ascan: no racism is natural, its only an ideology if i say it is
titus: well, no, as a marxist i'd say ideology is often, if not most of the time, unconscious
ascan: it can't be an ideology, it doesn't fit my definition of ideology and my view is based on science and reason.
titus: what science?
ascan: the science which doesn't support my position
titus: ? if it doesn't support your position why bring it up?
ascan: well........you can't prove its ideology so there - and ha ha i made you angry ha ha he ha ha
titus: *palm face time*

you say that you can't evidence that racism is innate. what's left on that matter other than for you to throw turds about something you have no knowledge of?

racism = covered
unless you have something to offer on the matter of the planned economy that was raised earlier then I think we're done here.

On the contrary, I've offered plenty of evidence. Go and read a few books on genetics and evolution, such as the ones I've suggested. It's not reasonable to ask that I regurgitate the contents of the books I've read that have brought me to an opinion -- if you want more titles I can provide them. Instead I've explained how I've formed the opinion, and pointed you to some sources -- all you've done is state that racism is ideological with no reasoning whatsoever. The default position, to reiterate, is that evolution and thus genetics influences our behaviour. I can't prove absolutely that with regard to racism/xenophobia. Can you prove mathematically that the sun will rise tomorrow morning? I somehow doubt it. Certainly within the context of a discussion on an internet forum absolute proof is impossible for many things; but a discussion of the means by which we've reached an opinion sheds some light on the likelyhood of that opinion being valid. And what makes you so sure that we don't have an innate distrust of those who are different, anyway? Your position is more unreasonable than mine because you completely discount something that there is evidence for.

Your problem, TLC, is that you seem to know little beyond the arts, humanities and Marx. I think if you widened your reading you'd change some of your opinions.

yes, yes, i know you can be facetious - the question is can you maintain a position? first page first post, I believe, of the FAO Ascan thread. The planned economy. Your response.

I've maintained a position: evidence suggests planned economies don't work in so far as they don't appear to be able to deliver a system that can be sustained longterm except within the context of totalitarianism. What you interpret as being facetious, was me making a valid point. So you go ahead and tell me how you intend to transform the UK economy into a planned economy.

a) that wasn't the point you put forward

b) the planned economy failed in the Soviet bloc precisely because of the dictatorships, had they been democratic, as in actual soviets.....
